I would say that no question, the answer is IPB. If you are willing to pay

Obviously, if you are willing to pony up the cash (really the plastic, I didn't think you could pay for IPB with cash), get IPB. It's what's in use here. Obviously it's very powerful, hence its heftty price tag. If you don't have the money, go with SMF. As mentioned earlier in this thread, it's free, and has a strong community. It's also pretty easy to use.

Hello from L.A.
I have to gather a mp3, cliparts, programs, plugins for popular programs, logos, dvd, X-Box games ... etc. many long years. If you have a interest to anything thereof or you like to eXchage anything thereof, pls let me know. My ICQ is 268851006. If you are uninteresting, pls don't flame, since I sell some stuff from my collection on Inet. More info you can find on the site of my sponsor: http://dispro.50megs.com/ Greetings from L.A. It still hard to decide, with regards to free forum software, which one I would choose.
I like phpBB, except for the fact that it takes too long to install mods. I also like SMF, but the skins are plain ugly... With regards to paid software, i love vBulletin...sorry if you like IPB, but I guess im more looks orientated to solidarity...and i really dislike the look of IBP |

http://www.invisionfree.com or http://www.invisionplus.net - The free versions of the IPBs. However the invisionfree domain has only a basic google search function (full forum search capability disabled), but redirect/mask domains to the invisionfree address which is usually s(number).invisionfree.com/forumname.
Invisionplus, not much difference to invisionfree, but some differences are that a subdomain is provided and full forum search capability is provided. However the reliability and speed may be questionable at times, but uptime is generally very good. |
