there are some signs that moderators are not doing their job. I still see plenty of topics giving away free gmail invites. Well, in some cases the problems are with us, members, too. some don't read or follow the rules. and they don't posts their threads at the corresct topics.

another,I guess Moderators could change the topics titles, so they should as well rename those bad spelled topic titles.

That's right too many gmail invites. That's the posters mistake. I think they should inform the poster. So that further posts can be avoided.

I have to say that the Moderators are doing their jobs and it's not babysitting the members.
solyanko1 is right, could we do a better job. Yes we could and we are working on it. One thing that was not mentioned here is the other hosting company we have that are catering to members with very high expectations and good knowledge of computers, programming and web design.

I am glad that admin and moderators have taken my post serioulsy. And it is very good to see them replying honestly. I am agree with them that the members should not leave everything on the moderators. But I will like to add one more thing- the members are supposed to make mistakes that's why moderators are made. The members should be learned for posting in a good manner. And it is the responsibility of moderators. Isn't it??

solankyno1, we take every post seriously. We have one limitation, everyone working here are volunteers. Administrators and Moderators do this on their free time and with the amount of posts it can be hard to keep up. I was gone for 4 hours (had to sleep) and in the time I was gone there were 4 new pages of posts. There is no way I can read and check all of those posts and the Moderators read a lot of the posts and act on them. Again, the Moderators are volunteers and there will be times they come on just to post and maybe ask a question or have an opinion without reading all the posts and Moderate.

Since this board is 24/7 access there will be times that there are no moderators or administrators here to solve whatever comes up. We are trying to get moderators from different time zones so we have coverage at any given time. There will still be times that there are no moderators here because a person may take a day or a week off.

So in order for us to police the board we need help from everyone on the board. By pointing out a post in the shout box or reply to an unacceptable is not enough most of the time because the message may have gone off the bottom by the time we come back online. If users could report the post by clicking the report this button it would help us a lot. We as moderators will not let the person you reported know that you pulled the trigger on them. This would make our job a little easier and we could come and enjoy reading the posts here and not have to be full time baby sitters.

Anytime subjects like this is brought up it show that we have a community here. Since we don't know each other except from here as an username and sometimes it hard to know what the reason is behind an issue. We are nameless faceless entities crossing like ships in the night. When you or someone else take the time to bring up a subject like this we have come a step closer and I feel it's my duty to answer as best as I can. I'm not always right and I may make mistakes or not see an issue but when it's brought to my attention I will do my best to correct it.

I know it’s another speech but I urge everyone to let me know what to do to make this a better community and if you don’t feel like airing it out in a post. Send me a PM and I’ll answer you to the best of my knowledge and ability.

In order for this forum to be as professional as we want it to be, we must have a very good contribution from not only the moderators but also the members of the forum. It is not possible to go through every single post posted everyday, because the forum database is increasing dramatically by the second. There is an estimated amount of 40 new users per day, and 8 posts per minute, and unless the moderators have the capacity of reading numerous posts per minute and has the ability to delete them in the matter of seconds, then there is no such thing as an unorganized community.

Being a moderator for some people may be considered fun to some people, but in fact, it is not fun. Moderators are the people who get the most criticism and PMs per day. The word "power" is not relevant to moderators, because they DO NOT have any power, nor are they above any user in any way. This all depends on the rules of the forums set by the administrator. For hosting companies, Trap17 is the only company that I found who uses the unique hosting credits system to give the community a very good reputation. I have been moderators for NUMEROUS hosting companies who have different rules. For example, some people might have heard the hosting company "Bullet-reaction". In that forum, a forum going OFF TOPIC will get closed, and there are so called "weekly cleanups" However, there are other forums such as this one that allows users to post freely under reasonable guidelines, even though I am NOT suggesting bullet-reaction being the wrong example.

Sometimes, moderating not only has to involve deleting messages, PMing users, but also involves in protecting the administrators. The copyright laws are very strict in most societies of today, and in order to protect the administrators from lawsuits, the moderators must seek the copyrighted works in the forum, and either a.) provide valid referencing (such as APA or chicago) for the sources and quote them, or b.) delete them. Alas, the moderators must check every post for copyright validity and that is very difficult for some people to do.

I hope this adds to everyone's knowledge of the job moderators must do. Thank you for all the members who helped by reporting offensive and spam posts.

i think that they are doing a very good job, but i also think that the admins should enable it so that we can edit and delete our own posts... that way when we notice after we post it that we had a typo or if we later decided we didn't want something posted we can take it back off

moderators are doing a great job, cant put them down one bit... i think the trap17 hosting service for free is great and i cant fault that either... all in all you have a good thing going here and im well impressed and will tell many other people about trap17.com in the future...
