Thanks for the tut. I too am afraid that activation emails may be marked as spam by gmail, but I think I'm willing to give this a try and see how effective it really is.

I've used filters for similar purposes.
Of course, the person who said that some activation emails might be deleted is right: if you're waiting for an application email and it doesn't show up in your inbox (Strangely, though, I've never had that problem), it might have been deleted. I don't advise people use this, otherwise people might not receive activation emails the way they might want to. |

Hey, the only problem with the spam folder is that it shows the new spam in bold. Yeah right! I have really NEW spam today! Hurray! Why did they have to do that?
Anyway, Bthaxor's suggestion is superb! Btw, if you don't want to send spam to the trash, just select the 'mark as read' option instead of the send to trash. |

Auto-Delete Appears Not to Work
Auto-delete Your Spam In Gmail Replying to bthaxor Hi bthaxor, I tried your instructions. Created the filter. Then forwarded eight spams from my web host account to my gmail account (the messages all had very identifiable SPAM attributes, like male anatomy parts, designer brands, and prescription drug sales). Then I collected my mail from my gmail account using Eudora. All eight spams were passed along to Eudora, rather than being immediately deleted upon recipt by GMail. No one else has expressed a problem with your instructions, yet I followed them exactly (I think!). Your thoughts on this? -reply by Marc |

That's cool, I would use it but sometimes my registrations for stuff gets put in there and once in awhile a word of the day gets put in there.
