Well, then again, the word "mind map" is derogatory to the mentally challenged (retarded?)... so it's pick-and-choose mentality. I think political correctness only makes the problem worse. If you call someone vertically challenged, the people being called so will think that the callers are just being overtly polite to cover up their hate.
