My vote is probably going to be for MSN, as it is extremely popular, sure alot of people use Yahoo, ICQ and many others that i can't be bothered listing, It has continued to stay popular even when Windows Live Messenger was invite only many, many people still used it either legitametly or they had found other means of logging in on with their email addresses, i haven't heard of anyone bothering to do that for any other messaging clients. MSN has continued to use newer and greater options, also there have been addon packs for MSN such as the widely popular Messenger Plus. With Messenger Plus you can add new features such as sounds and download new sounds from other users who uploaded them to the server. The only think i dont like is the tabs, they really make it look stupid, but i heard from a friend that you can get rid of them with some program.

Msn is the most convenient simply because everybody seems to have it. I have switched to aMsn now though as it doesn't use up as much of the processor when its running. Before I was struggling to run Photoshop, Firefox & Msn at the same time. There isnt really a great deal of difference between normal msn & amsn, apart from the smileys are a bit naff. So far it seems pretty good though.

ubuntu Linux OS is packaged with GAIM Messenger which can log in to MY, MSN, AOL,ICQ. If you are a myspace user, they have their own IM system call MyspaceIM

I prefer Trillian, Miranda IM(or something) is bad, I hate it, it's almost useless....
I'm using windows so I have no chances to try GAIM messanger......

I give my vote to Yahoo!
I don't know about the technical stuff about which is more safer, etc. but Yahoo gets my full support for the interface, specially smilies .. they can really make me express..

Why use so many different clients, why doesn't everyone just use the same one? Would be much easier, yes indeed. Let's all go get Windows Messenger (owh, got it already smile.gif )

Windows Messenger? Yeah, right laugh.gif

I'm using Yahoo! Messenger, MSN Messenger, and from time to time, ICQ, Odigo, Skype, aaaaaaand... Hmmm... Oh yeah, Google Talk...

I personaly favour Yahoo over MSN, but I must use MSN, since my girlfriend uses MSN, and doesn't want to use Yahoo!, so I kind of use it just for her... Yahoo has those great emoticons, great smilies... The only thing they could put in, is adding a custom smilie, like MSN has... One thing that bothers me with Yahoo! is that it's kind of heavy on the system, don't know why... Maybe their working on fixing that, but hey, nobody's perfect (except for me tongue.gif)

Those would be my 2 cents... Yahoo! number 1, MSN number 2 biggrin.gif

For the best client, I'd have to say Trillian, since it combines everything into one. Think about it. Instead of 4-5 annoying resource consuming programs, you could only have one! It looks cool too biggrin.gif
