My last antivirus and firewall programs were mcafee security suite and zonealarm firewall pro, but i had to uninstall both because they were conflicting really bad, first i uninstall zonealarm firewall pro because mcafee said it couldn't work with it, then i uninstalled mcafee sec. suite because it was taking too much of my ram and when it was scanning files, it was taking me all my cpu speed/access percentage.

After uninstalling both, one at a time, i decided to try avg pro 7, i already installed it in a couple of companies back here in North Portugal where i live and work, because of their request of course, and they were very satisfied, so why shouldn't i be as well?!

After trying avg pro 7, i was as well very satisfied, really, i already tryed avast, and by far, avg is better, in so many ways, in so many forms, yet and still, avast is also a good antivirus, but it doesn't have so many protections as avg or avg pro.

I understand what you're saying Hype, i've been there, not only concerning zonealarm programs, but also too many others, i am also trying software.

The biggest, or better, the only big problem Microsoft Windows Operative System have is the fact that it support the execution of multiple programs (windows) at the same time, and that fact, is the fact that cause almnost all major security problems in windows operative systems, that is the big reason why it is so insecure.

Obviously, the so called: "... security suites" are not 100% secure and 100% safe to install and no errors and conflicts will appear, that is impossible because of the reason in the first paragraph.

Still, security suites are the most wise choice to protect yourself not only from the internet threats, but also from operative system security problems, performance, speed, and more.

If you install a mcafee program, then you install a norton program, then you install a zonealarm program, and you open them all to protect you from the threats they're supposed to, the big issue now is the conflict they could create in the operative system by running at the same time, using the same system files or whatever, windows operative system can not help with this problem, that is why it is so insecure.

Another thing you should know, most of the times, crackers enter in your pc through programs you installed on your windows operative system because most of them have security holes, security problems, very big security holes!

If those programs are installed on a pc which does not have a firewall to prevent them from accessing the internet through any port/service, that pc is 100% insecure, open to all kinds of attacks, in this case, crackers do not even need to use a exploit to get admin access through a operative system vulnerabilitie, no, they use the security holes associated with the programs installed on your pc which have access to the internet, and bye bye!

Of course, linux/unix like operative systems are less insecure concerning this matters, still, they are not secure, no operative system is, yet, unix like systems have this problems more covered, not so vulnerable to this kind of attacks.

Besides this huge and most important problems, crackers will enter your machine, that is just a matter of time and programming knowledge, but mostly a matter of time and effort.

I could talk/write forever, but i have to work now, hope you give this some though, i know what i am talking about.
