Only text and no smilies makes a post a dull one. wub.gif

Smilies are used to give life to your words. It gives the reader the first impression, it attracts. When I see a long post with no similes, then I mostly avoid reading that.

One to two smilies per post is good, but excess of any thing spoils the taste and also when you want to scold mad.gif someone you cant use smilies.

I use them in the shoutbox a lot when I'm joking around or something. I don't really use them that much in posts because it isn't really necessary but if it's something that makes me happy or whatever I'll use them. They are a good tool to have there in case you do wanna show feelings or whatever.

I do use these smilies because they look cute biggrin.gif and can sort of represent your facial expressions.

I do on occasions on the many forums I regularly visit (and the few I mod), but when I write out long essays/statements/replies to debates, I tend not to use it as much.

But yeah, there are the odd chatty threads in other forums which tend to use emotes a lot, but I tend to stay out of then considering the post-w^%ring nature. Although its a good thing that many forums tend to have the no-post-count setting enforced to some chatty-like forums.

I use smilies, they help me get a point across. It's impossible to project sarcasm in text, so you just put a smiley at the end, like so.

I hate you all! laugh.gif

See? It works at least.

I use them an aweful lot, mostly because they show that I'm not serious though. On the net, and really in any writing, it's often hard to see if someone means what they're saying or not. They're best for that, and other things in my case. That and mood.
