Hey.. The scrolling part for the pop up smiley and the bbcodes are working in Opera now. I can scroll through the smilies and codes effortlessly. The popup goes away when my mouse is out of the box. Good job, it is done!
Have you got any ideas what to implement for your next version? I suggest IP blocking and word filters. You may also like to add an administrator's account to delete or edit a post. That should be near a professional shoutbox. Keep on going! |

That should be near a professional shoutbox. Keep on going! I'll think about IP blocking. As for word filters, that feature is there, it just doesnt cover every bad word. You can manually add more words to filter. And for admin feature, I'll think about that also, until then, you'll have to manually edit/delete posts by editing the shouts.log file. |

Anymore suggestions? I'm always open to suggestions. Are you still open to suggestions, it being like 3 months later I know this suggestion may seem to be a bit over-complicated but, would you be able to do something like allowing the poster to edit / remove post within 60 secs or so??? - I think this would be good, and would definitely make this a top class, "platinum" shooutbox I think another very good addition would be to allow poster to give e-mail, (but not have it displayed, maybe log it in your logs file thingy) so someone coule leave a message and get you to reply back, say with suggestions for your site etc. Just suggestions, feel free to ignore, I love the shoutbox anyway James |

Anymore suggestions? I'm always open to suggestions. Your shoutbox looks mighty fine TF. My idea is to port it over so support SMF forums. I haven't seen a shoutbos that looks as nice as yours yet (but I haven't really looked). Also, I would suggest an additional database-driven addition. |

QUOTE would you be able to do something like allowing the poster to edit / remove post within 60 secs or so??? Well, i can try. QUOTE My idea is to port it over so support SMF forums. I'd have to write a seperate one specifically for SMF. But it would be nice. I'd be able to put it on my forums. QUOTE Also, I would suggest an additional database-driven addition. Simple enough. Wouldn't have to do much modifing. |

Another idea (should be slightly easier than my last suggestion and would be very useful): once you've clicked show all shouts to get the whole list, would it be possible for you to get the "show all shouts" link to change to something like "show latest shouts"??? and only go back to showing the first few shouts, as usual... This would make it possible to easily hide all the shouts to save room again, without re-loading index page
OH *edit* - how do you set up an admin account, I have tried to login to administrator as "admin" with blank password, and it doesn't work... how should this be done the first time the shoutbox is implemented? This post has been edited by Jimmy: Aug 30 2006, 02:33 PM |

You must manually go into the "admin.php" file and give it password to use. The variable for the password by default is blank--that is, empty. If the password variable is found to be empty, it'll automatically generate a random password everytime at login, for security purposes.
