I wonder if there are children willing enough to register on a forum, that they would persuade their parents to send off a letter to the administrators allowing access? It's used on phpbb and vBulletin boards, I've used it in the past, but the part where it's flawed, is that kids can just reregister again on the forum and lie about their age. Still, it is a good idea, and any inititive to help protect children online, is welcome in my opinion.

im glad you have the ideal that its good to protect the childs privacy, and yes, they could regester and lie..but if the parent says no we could ban their IP..and aslo even if they lie, we can show that they regestered once and asked the parent but the parent said no..and they jsut regestered again....or you could say, when they were asked to sign up it asked them if they were born < On or before CURRENT MONTH/DAY 1993 - After CURRENT MONTH/DAY 1993 >, and since they lied you can be blamed for nothing...

its just somthing to protect the little ones, and protect the administrators buttox if anything were to happen.

I used COPPA registrations on my latest discussion board, I never get a mail from some parents about submitting a registration for their child but when you enable this kind of registration, maybe just maybe you will protect some kid. I think taht COPPA is a useful thingy and I will use this form on every my discussion board or website, where I don't think that children should register.
I know, that kids under 15 are surfing on the internet like some 30 year old adult and we can't do about that a lot,but we can allways try.. can we?

well atleast with this if you ever get accused of anything by the police you can pul out the form and show them that you had permission from the parent to be on the website....if ya think its stupid thats your opinion but i think it is smart..lol

Well ok if you live somewhere where somebody can accuse you for something what happend online ... Here in Croatia there are no hacker/internet rules or laws so basicly you can do what ever you want ... and if the someway find out what are you doing they first have to find me and that will take few years ... that is why balcan rulz biggrin.gif
