You have to put quotes in the notepad save dialog box. This screenshot will show you:

QUOTE(beeseven @ Apr 18 2005, 07:45 AM)
When I start Apache, it runs in a new window that just sits there. Is it possible to make it run in the background or system tray?
*

GO to the folder where you have installed XAMPP.
open the 'apache' folder and click on 'installapacheservice' .bat file.
then open the 'mysql' folder and click on the 'installmysqlservice' file.

Then restart the PC and there you go...
Your Xampp is on, but without the nagging window!

To test it, just open your browser and type http://localhost/ and click enter. You will see your homepage!

Good luck...

Yeah, it did help me a lot. Instead of uploading every time, I can now test my site offline then upload to my Trap 17 Site. This is really good, even though I dunno if it works with mySQL. Like, how could you try some phpBB, IPB, or PHP Nuke offline? If anybody knows, please tell me, that could really help me out.

Thank you, Razor and Codename smile.gif

I believe you can use MySQL with XAMPP because it says in its features that it comes with MySQL. I personally have never tried MySQL by myself (my blog takes care of all coding), so I really have no experience in that field. laugh.gif

It's always worth a try...

I noticed it comes with phpMyAdmin, but can't you let the scripts auto-install and auto-create the tables and data alone as you do on the normal server? Thought that would be possible, but I'm not 100% sure. If that could be done (a.k.a a normal mySQL server), please say, and everyone'll appreciate your extraordinary knowledge in this field of computer science smile.gif
