Wow... I had no idea that they took that long to grow! That's crazy, but it's still cool that before hand, it still makes the traps that catch things, even though they start off very small.

It might be worth seeing if I can get a couple then. One that is already grown, so that I can see it in all it's glory, and one that is started from scratch so I can see it in all it's stages. But I hope I can find one that is already started too, cause I'm impatient biggrin.gif

I love venus fly plants they look really cool, I would like to buy one but they are sort of hard to find. I didnt realize that they needed so much care.

wow! I've always been fascinated by this plant! Sorry I know nothing about taking care of it to help you. My country doesn't even sell it. It would probably die here. But good luck with your progress, I hope it will grow well and you can take nice photos of it to show us.

I found a site that sells many varieties of carnivorous plants. I am thinking of getting me some from there along with maybe some other carnivorous plants.

http://www.bugbitingplants.com/venus_flytrap.php

This also has a link to care guides for the plants they sell.

Thats really too bad that it hasn't sprouted yet. I was looking forward to seeing what was going to come of it, but it may be growing, just not large enough to peep out of the soil. If you do decide to dig it up do it carefully and try not to kill it, and if you see it growing bury it back and wait for it to sprout. I just think it would be way cooler if you grew it from a seed rather than bought a pre-grown one.

Yeah, I was really upset too sad.gif I'm not too suprised though, coming to think of it. I used (boiled) still water, dirty stones and it's in cold, cold, uk laugh.gif But I think, since they're not used to the bacteria/moss/etc there is over here, the moss that's growing has/will kill it.

And, yeah, thats why I don't want to dig it up, incase it is still growing. I did put about 2-4mm of soil on top of it, so maybe I went abit overboard, so it'll take longer to "pop out".

I'm going to give it another 2 or 3 weeks, then dig it up.
