dish network - fraud or scam - YOU decide
OK- here is the update on my phone call with Bill Watson, who works in the executive office of dish network. his phone# again is 720-514-7332. i wish to urge ANYONE having a problem with their service and can't get anywhere with their customer service support and their supervisors/managers, to call this # direct. It's a colorado,USA # that directly connects you to their executive office there. To recap, Bill answered his phone call from me with his full name, employee#, and a direct # if i have any problems in the future. after all the crap and runarounds with dish networks customer service, this information was very refreshing and it allowed me to forget for the time being everything that's happened to me that caused my negative attitude. i explained to bill 1/2 my story that has yet been resolved. the fact that i am being charged programming access fees when i was never told about those charges when i signed up and the fact that i tried to get someone from dish network to hook up the equipment properly so i wouldn't be charged. i told him about being charged $29 for someone to hook it up the right way even though it was very unprofessional and it sure as heck wasn't the right way. i mentioned the hole in my ceiling that still isn't fixed. he quickly told me i shouldn't be billed for the service call and don't know why i was billed for that. he took that charge off immediately. he did say however that i had to pay programming access fees if my phone line isn't hooked up. i had told him that i signed a contract but it didn't state anything about programming access fees as i assured him i had read that contract before i called dish network 4 months ago the first time. he assured me i did. i assured him i didn't. he was patient with my stubborness and asked me to get my contract and referred me to the paragraph "monthly fees and payment". he then referred me to the "additional programming access fee" and it does state that if the equipment isn't hooked to a phone line, that a fee of $5 will be charged. WOW! how i missed that i don't know. i told him that when i read the contract, i assumed that was the reciever charge of $5 that i already knew about. i never heard of a programming access fee before. well, turns out, i am obligated to pay it but i told him that since the equipment wasn't hooked up properly to begin with, that i shouldn't be obligated for that time not being connected AND since i tried to get someone here to fix it and did it unprofessional and even creating hazards inside my home which i am liable and had to disconnect it due to safety reason, i shouldn't be obligated for the remainder of what i owe. i assured him though that if it gets hooked up the right way and professional, i will have no problem with it. he agreed and dismessed all my programming access fees that accumulated. then i mentioned my late charges. i told him that since my bill was in dispute and the reason why i didn't pay for the last two months of service was because i was not going to give any impression that i accept the charges they were adding on to my account, i shouldn't be obligated to pay any late charges. he agreed. so basically, i got everything knocked off that i originally called scam and fraud(still is in my opinion wether they correct it or not) except for my regular monthly payment of $29.99=tax of around 60 cents. he then made an another appointment for me to have someone come out and install our phone line to the recievers. this time however, instead of hooking them up with a phone cord, it will be all wireless. no phone cords needed. he told me he was putting in an order for me for two sets. one for upstairs and one for downstairs. and they will be coming on the 11th of december. i had asked him if i am going to be billed another set of programming access fees while i wait for this guy to get down here(since billing is in the middle of the month) and he assured me i wouldn't. i am now very curious if they are so we will wait and see. he then proceeded to ask me about my damage. i told him let's wait to discuss that until i know everything is straight with my bill first and that i would rather handle one issue at a time. my thinking is that since dish has put me through all this, i don't think i want them in my house trying to fix things they broke. i would rather get an estimate from someone i trust and from someone who would probably do a better job than the cheesy and unprofessional job dish network is known for.....especially in my own experiences with them. the damage will be a totally seperate issue with me and i am sure i will have problems collecting from them so i plan on updating everyone on that issue as well. so come the 11th and come my next bill, i will continue to update this thread and let everyone know what is going on and if i am able to finally get my issues resolved with dish network. i thank bill watson for his patience with me and my problems with the company he works for. he was very helpfull and FAIR. FAIR is key with me because i know i am a fair person when it comes to business. too fair sometimes i have no problems posting the good experiences i had with dish network. it was refreshing with my last experience with bill watson and i want to be as objective and honest as i can so there will be little room to dispute anything i have said in this thread. stay tuned! |

hey anwii,
im sorry, i have never laughed so hard in my life! i can side with you on this, as my fathers-friends-neighbor had the same problem with them. two african americans were going around like jehovas witneses and asking people to sign up for their service. one guy agreed, and when the installation came about, they mounted the satelight in a "bad spot" and had to place it in the back yard because it wasnt getting a signal. they left 3 holes on his roof and just covered it up with tar! XD you can see that it looks like *BLEEP* when you drive by. just wanted to say that you are not the only person that has problems with dish. if i were you id just get cox and live free =0 anyway its your money GaMeRrEmAg ps, i bet all your access fees will go onto next months bill!! I was totally scammed by dish net too. I have spent several hours on the phone with them. One guy told me I sounded like I was confused! I am paying double of what I was offered!! I was supposed to get a 100 dollar rebate.
Well when they came to install, they were only ready to install for 1 TV (I ordered 4, which was supposed to be the same price, not!) anyways they had to come back a week later. The dish net said they had bad communication with AT&T. So since they installed it a week later, it was after the promotion that I signed up for. It was their fault, but I have to pay for it!! They are nothing but Fraud. I hope I reach some people thinking about dish net.. Don't do it!! I was supposed to pay 24.99, but I am paying 67.77... cable is cheaper and better!! The channels are serious crap!! -Patty |

I did a little write-up on an alternative a while ago. I've been there with the Dish Network customer service (dis-service) before and decided I'd rather not go through that again, so now I don't pay for the several hundred crystal clear digital dolby-surround HD channels I get. It's there. You just need to figure out how to acquire it. And what the heck were you thinking letting them install the dish on the roof??? Set up a fifteen foot post with five feet below ground in concrete and mount the dish to the top of the post after it's secure. I'd never let someone mount an antenna on my roof!

damn, thats really messed up. I've heard of B.S corporate B.S, but all that? I'm never EVER getting Dish! I didn't think that it was so bad before (we have a display of it at work, which we use and abuse (especially on super bowl
I work at sears, and we don't sell alot of DISH, but if we ever do I'll avoid selling it, because I'd hate to put someone through what you've gone through, I think thats very wrong, and yes, you should do everything in your power to beat them down (as you are), POWER TO YA! |
