I Always knew this day would have to come sooner or later. At the rate we are destorying our new world it will be sooner. Without a doubt they have or should be planning for this kind of events. But I do agree that they would have to invent someway of cheating the laws of phsics and move faster then the speed of light. But that is a totally different issue.
As none of use know why we are here and why there is life. We all know one thing, we don't want to die. I have nothing against Humans moving from one planet to another. If that is what is need to survive, I'm all for it. |

Hmm, a very practical attitude, I must say. Perhaps the very attitude that enables the human race to survive, hehe.

He is a genius. He might be right but who knows. This might be what we know as the doomsday. This might actually happen but might not happen because doomsday will come before it. He also states we might know the mind of god. I don't think so because we humans use only 10% of our own brain and god is like supreme how can we know him before knowing ourselves. Well going to the stars is not so impossible only if we can travel at the speed faster than light it might be possible and it would still take over 1000 years like he stated. Humans are not yet so advanced and i dont see this coming in the next 100 years. I don't think i will be able to go to space in my lifetime but my children or my grandchildren might be able to go there. Lets just leave it up to god.

While Dr Hawkins might be very smart, rather than travel to another planet, why further our use of this planet? By this I mean, we have a very vast largely untapped resource we could use in the oceans. If we are smart enough to travel to other planets, why do we not have the technology to successfully build an underwater city? We are able to travel in space and build structures that can house and support life in space, surely we could do similar in the oceans?
The ocean is a renewable resource that we can draw clean energy from, this has alady been done, we just need to refine our techique so that is more efficient and cost effective. I see this as a much more viable alternative to traveling to another planet. Support to the underwater complex is more available, travel to it is much simpler and cheaper, not to mention safer. I think we need to look down before we look up. |

How much ever we deny it, there is no greater truth than this - The world is becoming inhospitable day by day. Going to the stars to survive is an interesting thought but would perhaps not be feasible. Other planets like Mars may be better hospitable. But why would we even want to get there? Why not save our earth? Going to mars only to destroy it too? Yeah h, humans never learn from their past mistakes. Reading all this only makes me remember the dialogue in the first Matrix where Agent Smith compares the human race to a virus. As i thought then all I can say is-- How true!!!!

hah..yea, we'll eventually need to go to space sometime in the future unless we have technology to travel through different dimensions or somethign @_@
the question is..how much further in the future? we'll overpopulate this planet soon enough, of that i have no doubt. then there'll be food shortages, pollution gets out of hand, global warming makes the world's weather patterns go whacked, more animals extinct, famines, droughts, floods, disease @_@ just name it, we'll probably have it in the years to come >< i hope someone finds out something or some way to avoid these disasters..or it'll just be the end for us....unless some nutcase tyrant rises and kills off half the world's population =\ |

Yeah, we may have to do this eventually, but in this generation? The next generation? Three hundred years? Possibly, but probably not. The bottom line, we've got a lot bigger things to worry about here at home.
