yeah, well i suppose thats what happens when the definition of planet is changed...
lol, personally i always think of pluto as an old moon of neptune, because it is too small and it has a funked up orbit. but no it is just called a dwarf planet, that sounds good to me.... not too hard to change in my mind that pluto isn't a planet but a dwarf planet |

I went and did some reaserch on this at shcool today...
Once known as the smallest, coldest, and most distant planet from the Sun. was a major controversy since its discovery in 1930. the International Astronomical Union (IAU) downgraded Pluto from an official planet to a dwarf planet. Planet "rules" According to the new rules a planet meets three criteria: it must orbit the Sun, it must be big enough for gravity to squash it into a round ball, and it must have cleared other things out of the way in its orbital neighborhood. QUOTE (1) A "planet" is a celestial body that (a) is in orbit around the Sun, ( (2) A "dwarf planet" is a celestial body that (a) is in orbit around the Sun, ( (3) All other objects except satellites orbiting the Sun shall be referred to collectively as "Small Solar-System Bodies". so as you can see Pluto is no longer a planet because there are things in its path... (neptune to be 1...) |

who care's whats in it's orbit, point being is that it's bad enough that most of us know that we could be the only life in this universe period. But making our solar system smaller because "scientists" say pluto is just a chunk a rock now.
Why don't they just call it a moon of neptune and get it over with. Thanks to these scientists are solar system is even smaller now in terms of what we can learn about it and what not. Hopefully enough people will complain about this. http://www.webpetitions.com/cgi-bin/print_...on.cgi?99500778 just saw this even though it won't help at all. |

lol, six signatures gathered....
got a long way to go and i dont think that just because people complain about it it wont be changed.... these people are like the god of the universe, meaning they contorll what is called what, when, where, why and how.... they can rename planets at will, change definitions at will and practicly nobody can stop them unless the senate and house of represenatives decide to deal with it.... this is coming from my chemistry teacher who is a total astranomical freak! not that theres anything wrong with it.. but lol we asked him what they temporarily names the three new planwets and he read them off the top of his head as if it was out of a book... |

this is pretty funny. a bunch of scientists voted to exclude pluto as an officially recognised planet and now there are people rallying and protesting around the world.
who really cares. no one will ever go there and it has no affect on our existence. i have no idea what all the fuss is about. people, pull your heads in. |

I looked it up... They made it a "dwarf planet" because its oblong rotation around the sun. "planets" have to revole around the sun in a exact circle but pluto was revolving in an oval.
