I'm going to try a few of these. Right now I've got a problem in my job because I've to make some newsletters but I don't have any editor installed and I think it's gonne pass time until they definitely buy a Dreamweaver license for Macintosh... Now that I say it, I hope some of those work in Macintosh too. tongue.gif

thanks for you comments unkown_99 but that ftp client does not have anything to do with the topic subject, anyway, i know, it is the best open source or freeware ftp client, in a topic about ftp clients of mine, that one would be the first one to refer in case i was refering to freeware/open source software for file transfer protocols.

Today i use one that it is not refered in that list, its name is bluevoda free website builder, and you can get it here:

nice list of the top free html/site editors but seems like you just created a big list of nothing. a top 10 or top 5 woulda been nice

personally, i have tried half those and there is still one that i recomend HIGHLY that isn't on the list. it is definately on my top 5 in free AND paid webpage creation programs and it's FREE!

what is it? NVU! can download it at http://nvudev.com/index.php

why that wasn't on the list, i have no idea. it's 1 of the only 2 programs i use now.

not only that, it's open source and very easy to use!

the drawbacks to this program is that there is little support for it and it's a little buggy sometimes. both these things are livable though compared to the ease of use and what you can do with it....which you can pretty much do just about anything with it.

what's NOT livable is 1/4 of all those programs that were listed earlier eat up memory and freeze or crash your system where you need to end the program or reboot.

anyway, thought i would share a GREAT program

btw- another great program that is semi off topic is FIREFOX web browser. it's also open source and 100% free like NVU. both these programs are top notch!

I usually just use notepad or notepad++.

I also recently found an extension for Firefox that lets you put in HTML, and it shows the result live.
http://htmledit.squarefree.com/ is where it's hosted online, and you don't even have to install the extension I was talking about.

The FF extension I had has that included, and it's at http://ted.mielczarek.org/code/mozilla/extensiondev/ It's got a bunch of other stuff included, that could be really useful.

I believe its not on the list because Macromedia/Adobe Dreamweaver ( and like most of their other products & services) are not free, and this topic is mainly on, The Best And Free Website/html Editors + Text Editors as stated in the title and in the Freebie Stuff forum also. wink.gif
Don't get me wrong though, Dreamweaver is certainly on of the best like you said -- I had my first webpage/website design experience with it a few summers back for a Summer Camp.. but that story is for another time. blush.gif
