well, i recently stumbled apon anarchy online. You can download at http://anarchy-online.com/ . Well, i think thats the link anyways, i'd check, but i'm at the max tabs right now. anyways, its kinda like everquest, only instead of placed in a farytale land it's placed in the future. It's pretty cool. But its only free until january 2008. Also runescape is a good one, but gets boring after a while i suppose.

Well. World of Warcraft is a great MMORPG, I'd have to say it is the best one out there. It has great graphics, support, and friendly people within the game. And plus you never run out of opponents to fight or mobs to kill.

Tibia (tibia.com - free) is a decent MMORPG that will remind you of the old Nintendo. Its really repetitive.. and, in my opinion, it is too easy to cheat on. Set up a macro somewhere leave the computer come back and you've gained a couple of levels. At higher levels the game gets extremely boring and the loss you're dealt from death scales with your level which means when you die at higher levels you can lose 4 days of 'work.' When played without cheats this game is a great difficulty and fun.

Shadowbane (chronicle.ubi.com) is another great free MMORPG that is based solely on pvp. You can build a castle and attack others' castles while competing for resources (mines) around the world. It is awesome pvp. But be warned you need a decent computer to compete in this world. It has great group pvp and single pvp in anywhere in the world, see someone thats not in your nation and be prepared to fight.

EDIT: Anyone know any good MMORPG's for the Mac? Dofus is turn based and you can only play the free version until level 20 or so, I think. And Shadowbane is choppy on the Mac. Any suggestions?

yeah WoW is good, but like all MMOs, it gets boring - for me, it was the endless grinding for items at endgame. THe only fun i really got in endgame was exploiting the honor system by taking turns with the horde to lose @ battlegrounds laugh.gif

was totally frickin hilarious, every1 on both sides of the server were like "wtf? a bunch of nobodies got to be grand marshals/warlords from outta nowhere??!!one"

but yeah, i think they fixed that exploit now, with multiple battlegrounds queues or somethin, so i wouldnt try it sad.gif

for a free 1 i'd get guild wars, havent played it but my m8s say it tottally prawns WoW biggrin.gif
its not entirely free, as u have to buy the game, but there's no monthly charge, w00t!

or if u are rly skint, try SilkRoad online, havent played it but again i hear good things about it smile.gif

My favorite would have to be World of Warcraft also. Followed by Ragnarok Online. They are just amazing games, and extremely addictive. I actually quit playing both of them not too long ago, for the simple fact that I had played them for much too long, and grew tired of them.

Specific things I liked about each:

World Of Warcraft

* Graphics
* Many users to chat with.
* Quite a few "classes" to choose from.
* Quest System

Ragnarok Online

* Extremely fun
* You can catch certain monsters and keep them as pets.
* Many different "classes" to choose from.
* Adding monster cards to your equipment boosts stats
* Marriage Ceremonies
* Adopting

I agree Wow was a great game, but like many other players I got bored. Plus I I didn't like the fees.

Another good one I played was Guild wars. I never played it to the point that I got bored because I quit it to play Wow. I also liked that its free to play.

Entropia Universe is a good one for those of you who can transfer money into the game or if you just have enough patients to get going in the game.

Darkfall online is a new MMORPG that hasn't come out yet but information and videos can be found through their site at www.darkfallonline.com
I think it will be one of those pay as you play games, but with all of the features that it will have it will be worth it. There are no safe zone you can build your own city, ship, or house. You can basically build up an entire empire from what i can see. you also have many different jobs to chose from. It's basically an mmorpg players dream game. or atleast in my opinion.
