It is your email that is getting a lot of spam. Gmail doesn't send it. On the other hand it does quite a good job removing all the spam.

When you recive SPAM e-mails to your inbox DON'T move them to trash. Select them and Mark them As SPAM!!
Also you don't need to delete e-mails in your Spam folder couse spam older than a month is automaticly deleted. Curent status 413 spam e-mails biggrin.gif

Gmail has the best spam protection so far. Because every spam message I receive goes to the spam folder. And every Automatically generated E-Mail also goes to my SPam folder.
PS. You won't get spam if you don't tell people your E-mail

I get a ton of spam in my Gmail account. I think Yahoo was a lot better because I only got a couple of spam messages every now and then. Most of the spam I am getting, however, is from sites that I have registered on, such as free MP3 downloads and such...that kind of thing. I'm thinking about just buying an e-mail address that has better spam protection features and the like.

I have about 3 accounts with Google and 2 of them are spam free. Completely. I'm saying - I have never had any spam mail sent to two of the accounts.

You receive spam mail when spammers obtain your email address. They may do this by getting it from websites where you list your email address, from a chain email that had your email included in it, etc. Yes - they may even obtain it from that Gmail picture you have in your signature.

Basically, if you do not want to have any spam, keep your email private. Only give your address to those who need it.

But with Hotmail it's another story, you register for an account at Hotmail and you automatically are signed up for about 5 websites that send you spam e-mail, haha.

I barley receive any spam mail on gmail. I don't recall getting two many yet. Gmail is a great service and there is not as much spam compared to hotmail.

Yes, to prevent spam you'll actually have to prevent it from spreading out, because many *companies* use *ways* of getting your e-mail address like posting you e-mail on a huge <h1> header on your website isn't going to help. But trick the bot into thinking that it isn't a real e-mail address or give them a false address but you let your viewers know
i.e. john.baker@hotmail.com is clearly a valid e-mail so bots will bookmark that and you'll get spam
but john.baker#hotmail.com.delete.this will trick the bot into thinking that it isn't an e-mail
last but not least, only if you know how to code in javascript, java, or something similar you can create an animation or one of those security boxes which should trick bots but to our eyes looks normal

i dont get much spam on my Gmail. and i personally think that Gmail has much better spam protection then Yahoo Mail. And with the help of filters its very easy to manage spam.
