Good links.

I also want to add PSPad.
http://www.pspad.org/
I've been using it for quiet some time and I trust it. And of course, it's also free!

i reckon none of those are even close to textpad. it is the best text editor not just for html and webdev, but for programming as well. i find its colour-coding and matching of tags extremely useful. it is free, and the trial version is fully functional (only setback is occassional message reminding you that it is only a trial version).

you can download textpad from here

Hm, didn't you miss Notepad ++ smile.gif It supports HTML, as well as CSS, XML, JavaScript, C++, Java, Perl, VBS, and much more. Here is the link: http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/

As i told you, that list and topic was created in 2005 april, so it is not updated to 2007, but i hope you can choose better with a top3.

Allright, here is the top 3 free html website builders that i do consider the best:

Ace HTML
http://software.visicommedia.com/en/produc...cehtmlfreeware/

The pro version is really for advanced users, anyway, a lot of people might consider the free version for advanced users too since it has so many features and functions, but i live it to your opinion, i loved it when i used it.

You need to insert your email to download the freeware version, but it is worth your time if you want the best, only the pro version is better!

HTML Kit
http://www.chami.com/html-kit/download/

This program is more simple in my opinion, it has what you need to create good websites, it has all the features and functions one needs for it but now it is just a matter of taste and feel, you have to try to decide for yourself, i have, and i prefer the AceHTML but you decide.

NVU
http://www.nvudev.com/download.php

This program is also one of the best, and i do put it here because i know it is open source and a lot of people use it and like it and use it, and do create great sites with it, you can download plugins (xpi) on their website as well as tutorials too, there is also a increasing comunity out there which can share information and more with you about this program, and that is also a big help and fact to consider using it.

You must be tripping on hallucinogens.

Sorry, but that's the worst top 3 I've ever seen.

It's much more like:

1. EditPlus 2
2. Notepad++
3. Many (there are quite a few that could be put here, so I won't narrow it to just one)

If you do not like, tuff, but be carefull with your words or i migh just do the same, and i do not want to lower my level if you know what i mean.

Plus, EditPlus 2 is not free or is it!!!? I guess not! I am not even going to see the rest of your recommends, i think i will just waist my time with buttons saying "buy program now", this a different topic, it is about freeware or open source html editors.

EditPlus2 is free. Please do a little research before trying to rebut my reccomendations. Furthermore, my other reccomendation is open source.
