Nice tutorial! But I'm afraid to set up servers on my computer... for some reason I just don't trust them...

Also, another good server software is Xerver... I've never tested it though.

Tip: If you use a firewall, it should ask you if you want to allow the program to open the required ports (ex. ZoneAlarm will pop up a balloon asking if Apache can act as a server).

Hy, great tut simple to follow biggrin.gif
My problem is getting to my server using the external ip...
I always get my router page dry.gif
when i ask people to check out my external ip they get this page can not be displayed.
My wild guess would be that the page that canīt be displayde (however that is written)
is the router page.
I have forwarded port 80 to my internal ip on the router but he doesnīt seam to care sad.gif

What to do??? blink.gif

Very good tutorial on how to do this! I don't think I am going to use this method though, I just open the files directly off the server in Macromedia Dreamweaver 8. I find it much simpler doing ,it this way and also some times these package installers such as XAMPP restrict some features in PHP, may not be the case in this one, but sometimes it does.

Anyway nicely written tutorial!

Have a good life!

When I try to run Apache, I get this:

"Apache 2 is starting ...
<OS 10048>Only one usage of each socket address <protocol/network address/port> is normally permitted. :make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80 no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs"

How can I fix this to make it work?

-Merry
