I was wondering if there are any new studies and benchmarks on Oracle and Microsoft's SQL server. I search a lot and found nothing. Before SQL 2005 Oracle dominated, and SQL 2000 wasn't anywhere near. But now I hear rumors that Microsoft's product is very very close if not better, and outperforms in many cases.

I really would like to help you but, i prefer using MySql server wich is very good, open source and with a high performance.
Now, i also heard that Microsoft Sql Server 2005 is very good, but better then Oracle, i don't know, sorry, i guess you're alright with both, but i'd go for the sql server 2005 if i was you, Microsoft almost allways rules in this stuff (programming languages, for example, xp, vb, etc...). |

Why choose Oracle or Microsoft's SQL server? There's a totally free alternative to database. Look into MySQL for this free database. It's working as well as the paid ones. What's more in this freebies forum?
Anyway I'm really not sure what's the difference between Oracle, Microsoft's SQL server and MySQL. Since MySQL is the total free database, so my choice will be MySQL. |
