Ok, so I'm having a problem with my website and several hours of scouring Google has done me no good towards finding a solution. So, on to my problem.

I got hosting here, thus www.thewheeldeal.trap17.com was created. I then bought a domain from GoDaddy, and had it so that it was masked to www.maliciousintent.net.

My problem however is that no matter WHERE you are on the website, "www.maliciousintent.net" still shows in the address bar. This makes it difficult for people to link directly to content, and I feel that would be a huge hindrance once it picks up.

Can anyone help or direct me in the ways of getting my website to show www.mailicousintent.com/viewtopic1288.php etc etc?

Thank you.

PS - I tried posting this twice in technology but it wasn't showing up....at all. So sorry if they magically show up or something. And Again, Thank you.

Is the Domain Name "Parked" or "Add-on"?
If you want the dot net to appear on the user's browser, then "Park" the Domain onto the Trap17 sub-domain.

I attempted to park "www.maliciousintent.net" in my Control Panel and it gave me this....

QUOTE
Error from park wrapper: Using nameservers with the following IPs: 64.202.165.107,208.109.255.12 Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this servers nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to /etc/ip.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver.

Thank you.

Why mask it? Can't you just point the domain to the DNS servers of Trap 17, and thus set up the domain?

That's what he will need to do, but first, he needs to release the Domain from another set of Name Servers.

Thanks, I'll do that later but the last few days have been busy as I've seen a friend off to Iraq and have been in the process of moving.

As always, thanks much for the help. This is the first time I've owned a domain and the help is appreciated.

Ok, I went over to where I purchased my domain and changed the name servers over to the Trap17 Nameservers.

What is the next step in getting my site to show up as I want. Will I have to copy my entire website database in to a new folder?

Thanks

Okay, now you should 'Park" the doman onto your trap17 sub-domain. Allow 48 to 72 hours for the new name-server information to propagate and then people can begin finding your site using the domain name.
Parked domains do not require any content moves at all.

Parked Domains go straight to the Root Directory of your account.

Add-on Domains go to a sub-folder of your account. Creating an add-on account will also create a sub-folder with the same name, and an ftp user of the same name, too.

I parked the domain, but now when I type in

www.maliciousintent.net

in to the URL Address Bar, the page loads and then the address changes back to

http://www.thewheeldeal.trap17.com

I may not have turned of the forwarding and masking over at Godaddy....so let me do that now and report back.

Thanks again.

EDIT - Nope, that's not the issue. I'm lost. The nameservers are changed correctly at my registrar and I have maliciousintent.net parked. Am I missing something?
