I once tried adding a mod to an old forum of mine. It didn't work, and messed up everything.
So I've never added a mod since to anything. Personally I feel it may decrease security, but usually the mods provided by phpbb.com and phpbbhacks.com are relatively safe, and well tested before their release. I guess if I had to choose a mod, it would be this: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=289928 |

That is the weirdest mod I have ever seen for a forum.

It is rather wierd. I am not sure if it's a good idea for professional forums of a serious nature, or any forum that has paranoid members. I'd probably freak out if I got admin properties a day after joining - could be a little risky, hehe. Not that it isn't fun, though, as long as you use it sparingly

it could be.. but the official phpbb still didn't support for sub category and forum(hopefully in version 3).. this mod is the best to deal. it's also one of the phpbb official release mod, too.
and these two mods are very synchronizing and also best mods to add then after FIND input and RSS Content Syndicator. Blog mod is also very interesting and looking nice.. but it's still under beta state.. which mean try with your own risk! adding mod to your forum is one of the best to way to learn the php, mysql, template and language, css html mark up.. for the Dark God, why not try again and suggest that do back-up before whenever you modify! well, i will try that mod when in 1st April again |

Quick reply. Definitely. It's so nice to have a small box you can type text in immediately and then hit "Submit".

EasyMOD so I could install mods easily without having to manually add to my PHP Files. I'm too lazy to add the mods in the files by my self but if a mod isn't compatible with EasyMOD and I really want the mod, then I add them manually. I just think adding mods manually takes too long.

EasyMOD!! i knew that somebody would talk about it. for me, i did admire the way how it work. but i totally don't recommand this mod right now. because the mod is still under development and if you happen to use this, you don't know at all about what you really modified on your phpbb. until those moders standardize on writing mod format then EastMOD will be more powerful. somemore you can't learn anything, that's my opinion. of course, very lazy to mod but want to get moded in your phpbb then try those out! Fully moded phpBB Przemo version of phpBB |

I've used Easy Mod for a couple of modifications, and it's worked out pretty well. Not without hiccoughs, though. My policy is to manually fix the errors run retured by easy Mod, and modify the install file accordingly - i.e., remove the steps which you carried out yourself
The first MOD I installed was the attachment mod. Then the category hierarchy mod, which worked beautifully (so far, at least) and then the cash mod. However, the last two turned out to be slightly incompatible, and I had to make some non-trivial (well, non-trivial imo, since it took me SO long to figure out what was wrong QUOTE of course, very lazy to mod but want to get moded in your phpbb then try those out! Fully moded phpBB Przemo version of phpBB Oh GAWD!! Why didn't you tell me before?? Ew... now I am sorry I spent three nights modding my forums! But that's a very cool thing to know anyway, in case my forums crash sometime (god forbid...) |
