Man I'm just a bit down that my host would go and suspend my domain without telling me. Apparently it automatically suspends a domain once its gone over the bandwidth limit

I can tell you that I was in the same situation when I started my site. There are many ways that you can do to relieve bandwidth. You can compress before the server sends it out so that you'll use less bandwidth. It's called mod deflate (http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&safe=off&client=opera&rls=en&hs=cR6&q=mod+deflate&btnG=Search). I haven't been here in quite a while, so I don't remember what trap17 allows. If any admins know if this is allowed, please post here.
If you're hosting pictures, I would suggest using Flickr because it's a lot better than imageshack in my opinion. If you want more unlimited picture hosting, sign up with Flickr's $25/year deal. It'll be worth it in the long run. If you have a large CSS file, you can compress it here: http://www.cssdrive.com/index.php/main/csscompressor/ You can do the same thing if you have a large Javascript file: http://fmarcia.info/jsmin/test.html Lastly, check out this Coding Horror blog post. It'll explain more in depth about how to reduce bandwidth. http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/000807.html By the way, what was the name of your last host? |
