I recently found a site that distributes free domain names. Apparently, they aren't really free. Nothing in life is.

How you actually get their domain is that you accept offers from a program called Metareward. Sadly, the scumbags who advertise there either clog your computer full of spyware or have something called "hidden charges" that most people on the Internet doesn't know about.

All in all, it's best that you don't trust ANYTHING that call themselves free. As I heard many times in my life:

I would give you the URL to that site but I believe it is for your own betterment if I don't. But honestly I don't care about what happens to you so anyway:

Don't say I didn't warn you...

Yeah, but the site's badly designed and takes me as unprofessional. I opt for ezyrewards but I'm never going to get any referrals anyway.

Yes, it is poorly designed. Did I forget to mention, FreeDomainsName registration only lasts for a year each time. You have to re-register with another 200 point. Sad. Pathetic, even.

The only free domain you can get (that I know of) that is totally free is the one with .uni.cc at the end, but that isn't a widely recognised domain. With 1&1 domains, you can get a .co.uk for as little as £1.99 per YEAR. However, the rest of them are something like £8.99 per YEAR.

I live in the USA so I don't know how much those amounts are. Let me guess, they're euros?

And by the way, the cheapest domain name I've seen is $4.95 a year. I forgot the URL though. Sorrry if you wanted to know that host...

I would not subscribe to a service that obviously give me spyware and adware and all that crap... Paying is way better...

i'd rather just buy a domain than waste time trying to get a free domain, but i reccoment ezyrewards.com for free domains, at the minute if you sign up to ebay you can get enough points for a domain for a year, but its only for people in Australia or the United Kingdom

At the moment you can get free domain name registration through OneSite. I'm not sure of all their particulars, but what I gather is that it's free for personal use only, and if you want to take your domain elsewhere, that's where they have a fee of like fifty dollars. If anyone's interested here's their website:

Onesite

I, myself bought mine for 8 bucks a year through aplus.net

that's close to free biggrin.gif
