Ubuntu 8.04
On Startup, I am receiving an error which I am not familiar with. QUOTE User's $HOME/.dmrc file is being ignored. This file should be And I can't read the balance of the Error Message due to the font size... Can someone assist with the diagnosis and debug, please? A rookie Linux user, but I am comfortable with the terminal, if I have a good instruction set. Thanks. |

Well not being an expert Ubuntu user but an expert google search user
CODE sudo chown yourusername ~/.dmrc chmod 644 ~/.dmrc That should do the trick as it has a good successful rate fro mthe various topics I have seen about this. |

nope, didn't work, but this did:
CODE sudo chmod 700 /home/jim sudo chmod 644 /home/jim/.dmrc reference: http://www.ubuntuproductivity.com/journal/...error-on-login/ For those wondering what the /.dmcr file does, it apparently manages the user language and encoding information on a per user basis. refer to this article for more details. |
