I'm thinking of starting a free domain website, where you post for free domains. I'm not starting it now, because I still have to buy hosting/domain for another project me and a couple of trap members are doing, but once that's out of the way, what do you think of this?

1.What will be the catch?
2.Is it better then trap17.
3.When is it starting?

We'll have to see.

I think that would be great. It will be really nice to see that many are giving free domains on the net. I think it would be like co.cc . I hope you will also allow to change A, MX and CNAME records. Name it something really funny.

1. You'll have to post a specific number of times to get a domain.
2. It wouldn't be anything like Trap17, but will have the same concept (post2domains)
3. Not sure, when I have the time.



It wouldn't be anything near co.cc, because it will be an actual TLD Domain. Kind of like how Trap17 gives out free domains for 200 some credits, but it will be much different than that. And I'll probably name it something catchy, not something funny.

All the catches seem fine So we post a number of posts,then we get our own domain eg.www.555.net. That will be sweet So have thought on any details or is it still a rough sketch?

Well I would assume that you plan to use some sort of advertisement set up to cover the costs for a top level domain, and that you would be sticking with a particular website that sets up these domains as well. That way you can pay a flat rate and not be bouncing all over the place. Your next problem is the post to get a TLD as that you would have to set up a specific post rate to get the domain, and then a post rate to renew it, and of course convincing people to post in the first place. I haven't seen to many websites like this but if you google around odds are you will a post to get a free domain set up.

Or, you could always get a customized TLD like .lol if you can and offer free subdomains for that. I mean they do it with .tk. Use Google ads on your website for advertisement and possibly have a few restrictions on your domain. I like the idea though.

This sounds like a really cool idea. I don't like to join many forums (to date I am a member of only three forums, two of which are for company I co-own), but I'd definitely join this one if I get the chance!

I have three questions though:

1. How many posts will we need to get a domain?
2. Will we need to keep active on the forums after getting a domain?
3. To qualify, does it count by how many posts you do, or will there be a system similar to Trap17's one?

Other than that, here's hoping you can get it done!
