can cold fusion and php be installed on the same server and how well do the two of them interact. I usually look on googe for my answers but there's really nothing there on the subject. I mean I found alot of tech docs and other things but i was hoping that someone here would have some personal experiece with the subject. I need to know the do's and don't if there are any. round.

I don't know about Linux Servers, but I think it can be easily done on Windows server. However, I dont understand, why would you want PHP with COLDFUSION. Both are pretty powerful scripting languages.

I had installed Coldfusion server long time back, so If coldfusion has no support for running under other Server softwares, then it is hard. Else, If coldfusion can run under IIS, then PHP and CF can be used together.

I used to have Coldfusion on my Windows XP box at home - the same one that I'm now running ASP & PHP under IIS - so I guess it can be done no problem.

cold fusion published by macromedia.it supports all macromedia products and it's business project.
php is open source and would run on any type of server enviorment.

because i like to create my sites in php but I have a client who uses cold fusion but refuses to give me access to the server and isn't really helpful when it comes to giving me scripts and stuff. plus it's really difficult to test cold fusion servers when you don't want to pay for it. If you have any ideas or thought as to how i could get around these problems.round

I hear you brother smile.gif

I've got the dev edition of CFMX running quite nicely with PHP/Apache on this computer. I access CF only through it's built-in dev server, though, so I keep interaction to a minimum. Years ago I ran CF4.5 and PHP both under Apache, and had no problems except for CF's (then a C++ app) memory leaks.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to "install" them both. You can install Firefox AND IE right? Heck you can even install two different operating systems on a computer. "Running" them both at the same time though might give you some problems. But you should still be able to do it.
