I have spent quite a while looking for a laptop on the net, i'm thinking of spending around £1000. It's a difficult decision to make as i have had no opportunuty to test any of the ones which interest me, i'm working only on manufacturers specifications.

I need a laptop that is fairly portable I.E 15.4" TFT not 17" and would like somthing that i could use for a few games although i'm not a heavy gamer so an alienware laptop is not an option.

The laptops which i am considering are:-

Samsung R55

- Intel Core Duo 1.66 Ghz
- 15,4" WXGA Glare TFT, max. resolution 1280x800
- 1024 MB DDR2-RAM PC4200
- 100 GB hard disc 5400rpm
- 256 MB nVidia GeForce Go 7600
- DVD-+RW Double Layer drive (8x/4x/16x/10x/12x/24x)
- integrated Wireless-LAN(abg)
- 4 x USB 2.0
- 4-in-1 Card-Reader (SD,XD,MMC,MS Pro)
- robust enclosure with magnesium alloy
- SuperSilent-Mode
- Microsoft Windows XP Home
- 24 months FastGuard Euro Collect and Return-Service

This seems to have a good all round spec but i have not ever had chance to use one so if anyone owns one or has used one let me know what you think I can not find a review anywhere on this laptop.

LG P1

- Intel Core Duo 1.83 GHz
- 15.4" WXGA LCD, Auflösung 1280x768
- 1024 MB DDR2-RAM PC5300
- 80 GB Festplatte SATA 5400rpm
- 256MB Hyper Memory DDR-RAM ATI Radeon X1400
- DVD+-RW Double Layer Drive (8x/4x/2x/16x/10x/12x/24x)
- Wireless-Lan komplett integr. (54a/b/g)
- 5-in-1 Card Reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS Pro/XD)
- Bluetooth
- Fingerprint
- Magnesium Chasis
- Blaues Cover (Blue Cover)
- separater Nummernblock (Numerical Keypad)
- Windows XP Pro mulitlingual
- 2 Jahre Garantie (2 Year Guarantee)

Again seems a good all rounder but i've no idea what its actually like.

Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMI

- AMD Turion 64 2.0Ghz
- 15.4" WSXGA+, max res. 1680x1050
- 120 GB hard drive 5400rpm
- 1024 MB DDR-RAM main memory
- 128 MB DDR-RAM ATI Radeon X700
- DVD+-RW Double Layer Slot-In Laufwerk (8x/4x/16x/10x/12x/24x)
- Wireless-Lan integrated (54g)
- Bluetooth, Infrared
- 5-in-1 Card Reader/Writer (MS,SD,MS Pro,MMC,xD-Card)
- 1 x DVI-Out
- incl. Ferrari Bluetooth Optical Mouse
- lightweight carbon case
- Microsoft Windows XP Pro oem
- 2 year bring-in warranty

This laptop seems to get good reviews although the graphics card is a little older with only 128MB ram.

LG S1 (yes another LG)

- 15.4" WSXGA+ FineBright TFT, Auflösung 1680x1050
- 2048 MB DDR2-RAM PC5300, max. 4096 MB
- 100 GB Festplatte SATA 5400rpm
- 512 MB ATI Radeon Mobility X1600, 256 MB Hyper Memory
- DVD+-RW Double Layer Drive (8x/4x/2x/16x/10x/12x/24x)
- Wireless-Lan komplett integr. (54a/b/g)
- 5-in-1 Card Reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS Pro/XD)
- Bluetooth
- Fingerprint
- Multimedia Fernbedienung
- Schwarzes Cover mit Klavierlack (Black cover - Piano Black???)
- reddot design award winner 2006
- separater Nummernblock (numerical Keypad)
- Windows XP Professional Multilingual
- 2 Jahre Garantie (2 Year Guarantee)

If you ask me laptop should not be as powerful as sationary computers. ask yourself what you are suppose to do with this laptop? if you want to play games you better get stationary one . laptop made for doing email purpose and stuff

not gaming.

if you must buy laptop try ibook from apple
