they offer 1tb email accounts but the catch is its only available to US people but if you can access it it would be a good spam mail account for all your email spam to get sent to. thats what im doing so now i never need to care about spamm as it will just redirect there This post has been edited by mxweb: Sep 5 2006, 03:47 PM |

That is so much space...it is totally useless Basically a scam because nobody ever uses much more then a gig in emails... Its just shared space with a large number just to pull people into buying it...

The size of email account after a limit becomes useless, let me explain these mathematically,
To Prove: The size of email account after a limit becomes useless. Given : eMail account size is 1 TB=1024 GB=1024x1024 MB Assume :
Proof: In 80 years I have to use 1024x1024 MB Implies that, 1 year usage is (1024x1024)/80 = 13107.2 MB or, 1day usage is 13107.2 / 365 = 35.91 MB = 36771.84 KB or, 1 hr usage is 36771.84 / 24 = 1532.16 KB or, 1 min usage is 1532.16 / 60 = 25.54 KB = 1 to 2 Messages That means 1 to 2 messages per minute. Which means we will be reading messages for whole of our life, which is impossible, so this means the size of email account is just too much (Hence Proved) Rather than the size of the mail box the thing that matters is the size and format of the attachments. If we can attach big files may be a movie than it would be useful. |

I agree with Bhavesh, we should be able to attach larger documents and not just increase the mail size, I kept 100 mails on my Gmail account and it still used like 2 %! WTF. I now have deleted all useless mails.....
Actually I used to use Gmail as my online storage space, I mean for like softwares and bunches of songs and I would be more than happy to even attach an movie to it, I know it would take a lot of time but then too, when will my insomnia come in use! |

Exactly, but I am not that stupid to sit there and upload my whole harddrive, I always back-up important data and softwares on the web or on discs but for songs, me and 2 of my friends have collaboration, we all download songs and then we share them so all have the collection of all 3, so you can say that we save time and space that ways.
Sometimes I land up messing with my PC so what I do is backup the new software or songs that I downloaded recently on disc, all other stuff I already have backed up and then just format the system partition or event he rest of the HDD if it is pretty "well" messedup! |

For storage purpose one can use google pages they offer 100MB storage size upload in any format and share the link with others it is far better than file sharing sites like rapidshare or megaupload.
or wait till these email companies increase there attachment limit |

I liked Googles idea of GooglePages but it has one huge flaw,
Spammers and BOTs can get 1000000s of valid email ids through Google Pages. I would explain it in detail, as pretty much everyone here is a small geek and understand these simple things. I like using Rapidshare expecially when Y! Msgr shows some problems, sharing files on Y! is a headache. |

I also think that this is a scam how websites are claiming to offer so much space in just one email account. Having this much space in one email account would mean having one server per email address basically.
If the site is allowing people to create an account, it would mean that the webmasters of the site would need to purchase another server for every new new member, which would mean that say there 200 members, they would need 200 servers. I very much doubt they'd want to invest this much in keeping the servers up and running, therefore, as said above, I reckon the 1TB is just a shared amount of space. However, it could be that when all the space has gone on one server, they purchase another one. I bet they'd have strict rules though of what you can and can't include on your email account. This would save them the need of purchasing and then paying for the running costs of another server. I really do think this is a scam and feel that the email host should be made to state the truth. Nobody would ever need to have a quota of 1TB just for an email account unless they were abusing it. This is my opinion and it appears that a lot of users who've posted in this topic have the same views. |
