How to design a scan line fill effect in Adobe Photoshop
First you need a pattern to fit on pictures. To create pattern: 1- Create a new 2*4 image (width=2 px, length=4 px) and set background to Transparent. 2- Click the Zoom Tool and zoom on the image (1600%) 3- Select the Pencil Tool and specify foreground to black and set master diameter to 3px . 4- Drag in top of the image to paint. (Click in image). ![]() 5- Hold down CTRL and press A (CTRL+A) to select the image and then select Edit > Define Pattern and then type a name and click ok. To apply fill effect: 1- Open an image file. 2- Create a new layer (click Layer menu > new > new layer or use Shift+Ctrl+N short key) and type a name. 3- Select Edit > Fill (Fill dialog box appears). 4- In USE section, select Pattern. And in Custom Pattern select your pattern and then click OK. ![]() 5- Now you have to change some options. In the Layers palette select new upper layer and change blending mode to OVER LAYER. 6- Your image is ready. But you may change other options such as capacity and fill. ![]() |

Good Tip.. I recommend using 1x2 so the lines are thinner - i find it more popular and attractive. With this method you can also do alot of different fills.. dots, vertical/horizontal/diagonal lines, squares, circles... ect.
