wouldn't the smallest website on earth just be a blank index.html document? or "home.htm" would be better as its less characters, I don't see any other way then to make a web browser that can read compressed pages.

Well depends what you mean by smallest. Could it be the fasted load time? With very small website files? Well that would require little images, and content.
If you mean page size, go for this site... http://www.guimp.com |

It depends because smallest could mean smallest web files, or just the smallest visible website. Like you could upload a microdot and make that as your website

Yeah what do you mean by smallest? Like if you mean the fastest load times a simple text based site will obviously load faster than one with a bunch of graphics. Also, the more text on a page, the longer it will take to load because the html file will be larger.
If you mean just file size, you would just have a html file with absolutely nothing in it thus a white page would be shown. This would absolutely be as small of a file as one could ever have for a website. |

Let's start a trend to make small compact sites that have function with less junk.
More targeted helps. Like one of my sites was just supposed to be a portfolio page for graphics designs that I would use to win bids for freelance design projects. Now I realize it's a good experience visiting a compact site with fewer angles. Suppose I do another compact site for showcasing website designs, use a different name and make that another "division" of Whatever Media and so on... |
