Recently Microsoft has developed a program that makes user control easier. The program is called Windows SteadyState 2.5 and it needs a genuine version of windows.

System Requirements

• Supported Operating Systems: Windows Vista Enterprise; Windows Vista Home Premium; Windows Vista Ultimate
Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Home Edition, Windows XP Tablet PC Edition with Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed or Service Pack 3 (SP3) installed, Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Home Basic, Windows Vista Starter, or Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed.

I am going to show you how to use this program by the following tutorial
First of all you have to download the program from Microsoft Download Center, just click on the link below

Download Microsoft Windows SteadyState 2.5

Second install the program…
Then go to your desktop and you can find it there…

When you open the program you will face the following screen

Here where you can adjust the general computer restrictions

Here where you can download updates for the program

Here where you can adjust settings of the users that protect your hard disk

Here where most of the work will be done, this is the users’ panel where you can add users export users and import users and by clicking on the user we can adjust his privileges

Now we will explain every item…
We will begin with adding users
We will add users from the user’s panel

after we click on the adding a user the following screen will appear

// note: later you will see that we can block the user from accessing certain hard drives so if you want to restrict the user with certain hard drives just make sure that the user files (user location) is on one of the accessible hard drives form him.

After clicking on ok

The following screen will appear

The General tab

The Windows Restrictions tab

//note: remember to not block the hard disk that has the user profile files on it, because that will make certain problems

The feature Restrictions tab

//note: when you put the web sites you have sprat them by semicolon and don’t make a space between the semicolon and the website.

The Block Programs tab

NOW WE ARE ALMOST DONE, we have created a user and we had applied some restrictions to him, and when you restart your computer will find the user on the Windows welcome screen.

Now there are some few more features that I will show you

1- The general restriction

2- The hard disk protection

//note: I don’t recommend turning on the hard disk protection feature, because this will cancel the hard disk storage feature

Now close the program and don’t forget to press on save button to save your work

Restart the windows to apply the changes

That’s it
If you need more information about the program feel free and replay with your question.
