Question is abit stupid, reading it back to myself. But what I want to express, is how do YOU make build up your website and aim to complete it.

For example, at the moment I have quite a big project to do with my MAIN website. So i've added plain pages to each section so people know what to expect. Each time I finish a section, I will add that to the news for veiwers to see and take a look at the new complete section.

I think I just tend to write the page, do all the pages the same then just add content to each of my pages. I never truly finish my main website, but rather keep on working on it. There may be times when I don't update for several months, but if I find there is something to add i'll add it. I never really plan my sites though.

My web site always has been and probably always will be, a constant work in progress. Just aside from the fact that the puppy information has to be updated regularly, I keep thinking up things that I want to add to it. I usually run into 2 big problems though. Either I don't have the time to do the updates, or I don't know how to do what I want to do. I should be ashamed of myself, it's the busiest time of year and I haven't done an update in several months. Of course, part of the problem there is my computer is being a major pain and so I get discouraged and just don't feel like working on it.

I don't think there will ever be a time when I can safely say, ok, it's done now.

this probably isn't a very good method, and it is time-consuming, but it works for me!

i first get the design together. i make a blank template upon which every other page will be based upon (with all the scripts etc.) this becomes my index file.

then, once that is done, i just fill in my content

Same, I never actually finish a site. Its always in process. I think I never will ever be totally finished with a site. Always ways to improve it.

  • i dont recall exactly how i strated but it hink you need to have genaral idea of what you want on your site write them down and stuff.
  • also have a general idea of what you want the site to look like and the different ways you want the content to be organized.
  • pay attentien to the little things like the codes and some of the problems
  • i dont beleive in giving the viewers a preview of the site until it's very close to being done.and take your time dont rush what you're doing

the way you said you're doing it now is pretty good

Thanks man. I get alot of complaints from the community to finish off certain features, but I never really have the time to do so.

personally i think you should never launch a incomplete site. Why place a bunch of blankpages for people to see. If I were to visit a site like that I would be like why even come back to it,

You can always have a Info page a one page thing with all your info while you are working on the big thing.

but this is only my opinion

For the new version of my website I worked quite oddly... I did it bassically backwards... I mean I did all the idea planning and design first, but after I did the least important pages first.... I don't know why... got done the same... meh... usually I code up the most important pages first.. tongue.gif
