I don't think they could beat google, mainly because google already has such a major hold on the search and advertising market. Microsoft is mainly buying yahoo for the advertising department; however, they have since given up discussions and are no longer interested; though, the major stock holders of yahoo are trying to circumvent the board on yahoo to get yahoo to accept the microsoft offer, I don't know if they will be able to proxy the yahoo board, but even if they did I don't think Microsoft is interested in yahoo any more now with the new player, but I can't remember what it was, I think if Microsoft was to beat google, they would have to beat them in an area google doesn't already have a foothold in, mainly because google users are very happy with it and would just about never switch to microsoft (for good reason to), so that's my view on it. I honestly think microsoft needs to be hit hard with a strong competitor like google so they will actually start paying attention to their customers again, that's why google is doing so well, they actually care about the users, whereas microsoft just does what they want.

Yes I agree with all of your saying. Google really cares for customers and Microsoft only care about their money and fame.

No microsoft have absolutely no chance, yahoo is too complicated and the homepage scares me, unlike Google where the homepage is simple and all the other services are on extra pages that are easily found by the links just above the search bar, also i just think microsoft suck.

Supposedly Microsoft is still in discussion on taking it over, even after their initial retraction of their offer. After Google stepped in to stop Microsoft they also offered to take over certain aspects of Yahoo. So basically one potential monopoly was stopped by another potential monopoly.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Google, but I don't want them to be the only option on the web. They are an amazing company as now, but once their competition starts to fade away do you think they will remain as humble as they are currently? Nothing would stop them from turning into a yahoo type sight with tons of bull *BLEEP* advertisement or a site that completely filters the content you'll see so that you can't find the obscure sites any longer. They could be a major player in ending net neutrality and the internet as we currently know it.

In my opinion, I don't think that Microsoft/Yahoo would beat Google's search engine. Google seems like they have a really strong grasp over that area of the internet that no other companies have or will ever overtake. I don't think the whole idea of the merge is to 'beat' the other company, but rather to improve each others weak points. Microsoft is probably just using Yahoo for internet advertisement, something that Microsoft doesn't have a firm grasp of. It would be really interesting to see if Microsoft and Yahoo really do merge, but in order for them to be successful, they need to pull out some new tricks and services to really compete with Google.

Google is unbeatable.
Because;
1. E-mail service of Microsoft's Hotmail or Live and Yahoo does not support POP3 and IMAP.
2. The most used search engine is Google.
3. Language translator of Live absolutely not working, Yahoo's language translator is better than Microsoft. But Google's language translator is translating lots of language with very very low mistake.
4. The most used advertising system is Google Adsense.
5. Yahoo Slurp! bot is working more than Msn bot. But Google bot is working more than all of the bots.

In fact Google is beating each Microsoft and Yahoo in every seconds... cool.gif

Google is about 50 squillion years ahead of this. It'll take microsoft stacks of time to be as advanced as google, not only is google the most used but the most known due to promotions of their services.

In many ways it would be nice seeing Yahoo and Google merge into one. Maybe call it Yahoogle? haha. But honestly would be great I feel. Google already has one of the better messengers, why not take over Yahoo? it may help Yahoo in there game department. It use to be the bomb many years ago. Now hardly anyone plays there anymore.
