At the request of a member, here are some links for instructions for downloading and installing the GIMP Graphics package. This discusses a Windows application. Other versions are available. Follow these links to find the version suitable for your particular installation.
GIMP download page here : http://www.gimp.org/downloads/ Select the Windows Binary link : http://www.gimp.org/windows/ Select Automated Installer : http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/ Select Download Stable version : http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html Select Download : http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading...;use_mirror=umn Might need to also download the GTK softwares : http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading...;use_mirror=umn Save them on your computer somewhere you can find them. The Desktop works for me. It is a temporary location only. Double click the zip files. Your default extraction program will then unpack and begin the Installation. Follow the screens. I suggest you Install the Default version of everything to begin. There are tutorials available at http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/ and a Manual here : http://docs.gimp.org/en/ Happy Grokking with the Gimp. |

I've got a question about the GIMP English manual - Is it possible to get it so that you can check for help when you are offline? I've tried a couple of times, but I needed it to be online or else it wouldn't work.

you can download the manual here ftp://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/help/ for offline usage, but the online version would most likely be the current one unless they update both of at hte same time.

This is great. i used to use fireWorks i created my first sig with that ( Great times ) i posted that Look it up under the Show-off section of the GFXtrap section. That was my first ever sig.But as you might see i was told that The gimp was better than fireworks By Truefusion. He said that considering i used firworks it is great ( i didn't think it was much) And he also said something similar to:- You might consider using a better GFX creator like the gimpfor example He gave me a link to this topic i Went through everything you said and it is working great i shall pst my first sig created by GIMP in the near future. TTFN Hope to see you guys soon, In the near future lol |

Hey Jim one more thing; How do you load brushes into the gimp like photoshop? I found some cool brushes I would like to load but I do not know how to load them! All the Gimp is, is a free version of Photoshop, but a LITTLE different.
