I see so many postings about free domain names I figure this might really interest a lot of people. If you go to freestarter.com they have a phone number you can call to get a free TLD domain name .com, .org, .net, .info or whatever it is for businesses but I figure if you place an ad on your site it is a business. It is only free for a year and then you will have to register it again and I don't know if you can use it with a free host so maybe it is not exactly what you guys are looking for but hey free is free right? ph34r.gif

Man, I was hoping for a free TLD for personal use only, not for businesses. I wonder if you can find a free TLD registration page for personal use.

why not buy a domain name yourself .. you can get it as cheap as $7 per year .. and you can do anything with it .. no ads .. no banner .. There's no free lunch out there ..

*One Domain Name per North American Business

which means guys like me who live outside america can't register.. also

Domain forwarding so you can point to an existing site

i have a feeling they don't offer DNS services... you can only forward your domain name to your site... you can't use the domain name as email address and other stuff you can do with DNS domain names.

{sorry for reposting.. won't happen again}
as long as you pay something i guess its pretty reliable. but that is lowest it can get... anything lower and i would be suspicious. there are some hosts who offer free domain name registeration with hosting.. i am not too sure about those guys too.. i mean what if we decide to change the host? can we take the domain name for ourselves? i don't think so.... anybody who has any experience in this please post.

Man... takes me back to the old days of NameZero

My first domain wass with NameZero and it was totally free... too bad you had to wait about 3 months for your request to be processed.

The good old days, eh?

This is kind of stupid. They make you call them to get the name, and I wouldn't be surprised if they charge you automatically once the year is up.
