Is there a way to download one of the old versions of Invision Boards, version made when it still was free?
I have seen many free invision board hosting services, and they run on IPB 1.3. I assume that's the last free one. Is there a way to download it, so I can host it here on Trap17? |

I too have been wondering that. While you are waiting I recommend trying to find a free IPB host (I like Invision Free Google it)!

Ok, I found it here, after googling since I started this topic.
Here's the link: http://www.sebflipper.com/downloads/pafile...tion=file&id=14 I'm not sure if it will work though, I am installing it right now. |

Invision are no longer offering a download of the last free version as they no longer offer support. However, I think I still have a copy of the original .ZIP file of an unmodded IPB v1.3 if you would like a copy. It does encourage you to register on the admin panel, but this is only for support that no longer exists.
There are some great mods for v1.3 available on many sites, one of the best being Invisionize, which also supplies skins and graphics. PM me if you would like a copy. |

I think you can't get that anymore although there are a couple sites where you can get free remote hosting.. www.invisionfree.com-A Modded Early Ipb Version www.forumer.com-Ipb 1.3 www.clicdev.com-But it's not accepting new applicants |

I don't see any substantial benefits to using IPB over any other freely available BBS out there. I would think that now that IPB doesn't offer a free version of their software, that it would be just about time for you to experiment with some of the alternatives. Personally, I would go with PhpBB2, since it's complete OSS (Open Source Software) and it's readily available for download. Being OSS, it's backed up by a huge community and has tons of available plugins, mods, and themes to keep you busy for weeks. But that's not the only one of course.
Personally, if I don't have the money to invest, I try to stay away from commercial software as much as possible, the same applies for BBSs. If you're interested in looking into alternatives, the most popular ones that come to mind would be,That's for starters, because I know there's much more software out there. But my main point is though, if you can't afford it, and there are other viable alternatives out there, you'd might-aswell start lookin'. |

There ARE sites where you can get up to IPB v1.3.1 Final for free, but they are warez sites, and from what I've heard, it's still legal to use them. If you really wanted to clear this subject up, you could get a hold of Invision and find out if it's illegal or not. Here is a copy of Invision Power Board(U) v1.3.1final. If this download is not acceptable from trap17, then remove it, and I'm sorry for placing it here.
PSSSTTT: If they DO remove it, then just go to google, and enter "free IPB v1.3.1 Final", It's the second last one from the bottom on the first page. Have Fun Shadow |
