I am not sure which type of forum you are talking about. If you mean a forum that you can download that has no ads on it you can get PHPBB at http://www.phpbb.com/ If you have hosting you can get the free verion of Invision Power Board off of your control panel as well as a couple others.

If you mean register with a forum that doesn't have hads that you can chat on and not own or run there are many. My forum does not have ads and the same goes for other personal sites.

I get what you are saying now. At first I thought you were talking about a forum for your own host that is free with and doesn't have ads. Then I thought you wanted to join a forum like Trap17 but one that doesn't have ads. For free forum hosting go to http://www.forumer.com/ They host your forum for free I am not sure about the ads but I don't think there are any.
The only ads are google ads to help support them

Evalve offers free phpBB forums with no ads. They're supported by donations from members. Free to sign up and instant activation.

I've never used the service, but it has good reviews.

Evalve.org

They also have a very nice walk-through style help guide to setting up your forum here.

Unfortunately you cannot get mods, add-ons or themes installed, but its the same for most free services.

why look further? are you not going to get your hosting from trap17.com? you should get hosted here, since you're already a member! biggrin.gif with that said, you can then just install a forum of choice via cpanel on your trap17 hosting space, and just remain active in the trap17 forums to maintain your hosting credits so your hosting doesn't get suspended. biggrin.gif and aside from forums, you can have vast control over what other features you want in your hosting: like chatrooms, blogs, galleries, etc. trap17 offers you that, with no ads attached to your hosting. smile.gif good luck!
