HEHE ... of course you're intrested in that ...

You're so intrested ... and you know why ??? ... because it's impossible !!

Free hosting is possible because the host doesn't pay for anything, he already has his host running, and he probably has other things that get him payed for that, so he won't lose anything if he gives you few megs for free ...

As for domain names, a minimum of 8 $ must be payed to register them to ICANN, for that no one offers them for free ... unless you do something for them that will cost you a lot more tongue.gif

I'm pretty sure he means that the topic of free domain names in general isn't free. I may be wrong but i think that he means that the provider who gives you the domain is losing money. As he said it costs a minimum of $8 to register them. He probably means domains such as .com and .net or .org, whereas many people think that the domains that they are using are free, when they are actually sub domains or not very good at all. There are many topics here at Trap17 about said domains, so if you are unsure what im talking about or unsure what i mean then i suggest you use the search button or look in the freebies section.

Hey there .... well, what i mean by domain name is something like this :

yourname.com or yourname.net or yourname.biz or yourname.org

not like this ! : yourname.someone'sname.net

But if you are relly getting .com or .net domain names for free !!!!!!

Then please share with us how you are doing that biggrin.gif

Giving free host also cost you. Nothing is free in this big blue world. Trap17 for example probably pays a lot of money to keep a host running with good quality, but the forums pay off (doesn't it?). So if they have 500 members, it would be nescessary a lot of resources: 75gb of space and 2500gb of bandwidth to host them all. Now look how much will a host like this cost (and a GOOD quality host).

But I think free domains could be true if they used a similar system. They just have to invent some way to make people earn them money and buy the domains. smile.gif

That's what I think, I may be wrong but I have the right to speak darnit! biggrin.gif lol smile.gif

phpfreek is right you cannot get totally free domains without having to do something first like posting a couple of hundred posts in a forum so you may as well just buy one. also it is true that $8 must be paid to ICANN per domain so domains cannot be made free unless you make a custom extension. So by the time you have spent a couple of months posting you may as well just buy one as it only takes 5 minuits.

Lets recap on domains!

Domains are in three types:

Domains: .com/.net/.biz/.co.uk/.de/.fr/. - They'd cost you money, you sometimes can get them with lots of ads or stuff or you could get free one's from reward sites, ezrewards for example.

Subdomains: .trap17.net/.trap17.com/.freehost.com/ freewebs.com/ and others like that. They are mostly always free!

Also free redirection: .co.nr/.tk/.likes.it/ - They're not real domains, they just redirect things like: http://web.net/pop/net/yourname. You can usally make them cover the big adress, so it says .co.nr or something like that on the whole site.

Thankyou,
BBen Teach.
