I went there to join, but there was no place to put my link. I clicked the add yours link, but it just had an empty page with the menu and banner at the top.

I'm ever heard the Banner Exchange before ,It's just an old thing 2years old I won't use it .Its' just an ad,I don't want an ad for any other reason except money.

I like the idea of exchanging with other Trap17 members. This seems like you will get the advertising that you deserve. You also don't worry about ads you don't want on your site. Way to go man.

Ill Exchange banners mine is Halo 2 Advanced it is mostly a halo 2 site with super jumps and other glitches but it also has some diablo 2 and GunZ online stuff too

I think that the best banner exchange program is UnitedBanners.com They support several sizes and also have cool Google style text ads that you can exchange too. Plus they have a really good referal system. If you are looking for a banner exchange this is the best one I have found.
