Another user recently posted an idea based on users submitting quality articles to an engine that populates additional pages to a website thus having the user community contribute to the ever expanding site (set up like an online directory or WIKI etc.).
Sure it's been done but it's still a good thing when you have an idea that might gain momentum because of it's design in the first place. Kind of like trap17 asking users to post in exchange for something they value. This is a good arrangement because there is a level of respect among users and the quality is pretty good (from what I've seen in my short time here).

Thing is, you need to always come up with ways to get ahead of the big players or try to gain on the competition a bit so what about the quality control of posts in a system as described in my last paragraph? What are some ways to control to content creation engine? (aside from screening every post or having moderators are there any other good ideas on how to do this?) One extreme would be to screen applicants so you know who they are for sure. Like MD you verify the PHD is real or some such thing and then from then on simply trust the posts from this doctor guy... Maybe check once in a while to make sure he hasn't flipped his noodle and started posting nasty things. A model to consider is DMOZ but when you add the site structure as in the first paragraph it is more about content and articles or posts than simply screening entries in a directory. I was an editor of DMOZ, in fact I think I'm still listed and I never received any contact or evidence that I was screened as an applicant. So they really didn't know if I had anything to do with theater automation equipment! Maybe the answer is to structure the system in such a way that the users are the owners with shares etc. and everyone is hungry to earn more profit therefore operate as a really good team.
