Ok, i have this curiosity and may be you can explain to me a few things regarding this afiliate stuff. As i understand it you must register at a site, get an id to use with your links back to them and they pay u for clicks or stuff sold to people coming your way.
But i'd like to know if it really works for anyone, and what about payment methods, how can u find a reliable affiliate program, what are the things that sell good, u know, stuff like that.
I'm so currious because i've hured someone pretending he makes a nice bunch of dollars of it and i usually never trust this kind of earning.
Best regards, realthor.

yes, they work, but it takes time to make affiliate programs work. there's lots of them out there and you need to do your research to belong to the best ones that are converting. you don't want to sign up for those not converting for others.

signing up is the easy part. the hard part is getting your page viewed and your links clicked and also hope that the company you're affiliated with has a good sales page to get a sale. so you need users and TRAFFIC TRAFFIC TRAFFIC. you can get traffic many ways. if you don't have traffic, you wont succeed.

so to answer your question in short, yes, they work and yes, people lie in how much money they make but some also tell the truth in how much money they make. affiliate programs are good if you know how to set it up right. there's a lot to consider. if you are planning on joining some affiliate programs, do your research, write everything down on paper, make a plan of action (everything you've written down) and do it. then you will need to find out what is working and what isn't and adjust what isn't working because you don't want to waste your time with little results. it's WORK and it's not easy. it's a JOB, but you're working for yourself.

Ok, i've noticed on the internet some affiliate websites that are pretty well reviewed like cj, sharesale, adwords. As far as i can understand you sign up (free i guess) and you can choose from a list of merchants the ones you'd like to advertise for. Sharesale requests that i have a website to promote on but i don't right now and can't go further to see what one needs. So probably you can tell me, what's the procedure? It's like you choose a product of a merchant and get a user ID to use in your links , or what ?

sharesale is different than clickbank and commission juction in that there are more pay to click affiliate programs and pay to sign up programs. i always liked sharesale and click bank. never liked cj. if sharesale requests a website, use a fake one. you can always change it later but if you plan to make money using affiliate programs, you will need a website. if you belong to several affiliate programs you may need several website that are tweeked to promote each affiliate program.

whoever mentioned the banners and popups above, BLAH! ESPECIALLY if they load slow. people will click off your website before they load GAURANTEED! that is unless you have some really good original content on the page that is trying to load. but then....if you have original content that users want then you don't need banners and poppups....DUH! you write text ads that are search engine friendly or graphics that don't take as long to load.

i hate bad advice......

Tradedoubler is a great place to find businesses to advertise and it manages it all for you.

All you do is copy the code (which there is a variety of, HTML, Java..) from their website onto yours after you've been accepted by the company you want to advertise! I usually make around £40 a month from them.

i will make a couple of websites and i wouldn't have a domain bought first, as i want to see how things work, and after a while to move to .com domains. But i don't know if anyone accepts another extensions except .com. What do you know?
