DropMyRights is a free software developed by a Microsoft Employee, Michael Howard to protect your Computer from Malwares while Online.
This tool limits the system changes by restricting the user rights for any program eventhough you are logged in as Power User or Admin. Rather than blocking the Virus like traditional Anti Virus softwares, this software aims to limit the malware's power to cause harm even if it manages to get into your computer. This tool works by restricting the malware to make major changes to your computer, such as in Windows registry. This utility is very effective and useful. I got to know about this utility while I was searching in Microsoft Website. You can get the DropMyRights Software here http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2...ropmyrights.msi You can find more about this utility from Michael Howard's Blog here This post has been edited by delivi: Nov 12 2006, 11:31 AM |

I haven't really had a problem with viruses really unless I go to sites that I know are prone to viruses and what not. I might have to try it out though, you can never have too much protection. As long as it doesn't limit me that much in things I can do on my computer then it will be a good add on. My only problem would be how much power it'll use, hopefully it won't slow me down, I have a Celeron on my laptop.

Sounds like a great way to protect your system for the first few weeks or months, however it won't take long until the skilled programmers / hackers alive find a way to pass trough this program, you can never 100% fully protect yourself from an attack from the outside if you still want to have contact with the outside.
