Hey guys. I've decided to make a new template for my site recently. Instead of building one from scratch, I borrowed whyme's template from oswd.org. After modifying everything everything, I found a problem: the container doesn't expand as #side increases in length (refer to the source code of the HTML and CSS files of the first URL in this post).

In other words, the container doesn't expand for the small content boxes, but it does expand for the main content boxes (the large ones).

Does anyone know a solution that I can use so that the container will expand for both content boxes (large and small)? I asked whyme, and he said that #side is not inside #content, and he's right. I notice that #side loads first for some weird reason....

Any reply is appreciated!! smile.gif

Edit: Fixed BBCode: [url=http://oswd.org/viewdesign.phtml?id=2099&referer=%2F&PHPSESSID=a3948ba728af11fc6c89ec1d8231f8a7whyme's template from oswd.org[/url] -> whyme's template from oswd.org

so what are you asking for individual boxes if that be the case then use the <div> or <span> tags its a little more work with moving the width and height. also it could be the tables that affecting it but refer back to <div> and <span> tags

btw your are not xhtml compatible tongue.gif

I did use <div> tags for my site. I prefer it over tables because if you have a large site, then instead of the browser reading all the cells in the table, the browser would render the <div> as it finishes reading it. Faster loading time in the long run basically.

If you view my site in Internet Explorer, you'll see that the little boxes on the right is somehow not contained in its box. It seems to float above the box, so I'm just wondering what I could do to fix it.

Mike, compatibility is the least of my worries right now. I worry about that and styles later as soon as all positioning bugs are sorted. smile.gif

Anyways, does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks again.

Edit: I figured it out. http://positioniseverything.net/easyclearing.html
