http://www.1and1.co.uk (or .com, for those in the US) is the cheapest place for domain name, and if you get hosting, you get a domain free for a yer, i think...

There are many websites which you can register your domains from. A very popular one, which registers about 70% of all the United States Domain is called NetworkSolutions @ http://www.networksolutions.com. They offer domain registration for roughly * dollars, Another popular domain risgter is go daddy @http://www.godaddy.com. They are currently offering domain regitration for 3.95 per/year, and lastly you can go to register.com @ http://www.register.com, which also gives out resonable prices for registering.

For my old domain, I used godaddy.com which worked great, my site was never down.
My mother used to be a website designer, and she used networksolutions.com, and her site went down a lot, like 5 days a month. That's only my personal experience with them, your results may be very different.

Yeah, I also use www.godaddy.com. I've pretty much have stuck with them from the beginning and have never had any trouble with them. Also, I like the fact that they e-mail you 90, 60, 30, days out when your domain is going to expire or you can set up an autorenewal if you don't want to renew every year.

...hope this helps,

Yea. I recommend godaddy too. But regarding the downtime thing .. i need to explain a bit. The downtime is because your webhosting account is down but not your domain name. Maybe you are saying that you have a domain name registered and hosted at http://www.networksolutions.com/ and the server is down very often. But you can always register a domain name and host it on other web hosting place like here trap17.

Is a credit card required to register a domain name or can you do it other ways, for example, money orders, checks, etc? unsure.gif

I always depends on the registars options. I just use cc for my 1&1.co.uk domain names!
