Hi. In my opinion phpbb is the best forum to start with a comunity because is the most simple forum to configure, so, if your're looking to learn how to build a forum step-by-step just download the phpbb forum from the oficial website and alsow some related tutorials from the same website and maybe from another websites dedicated to that subject:
Try this keywords in google to find those websites: " download free phpbb tutorials"; "free phpbb tutorials"; "phpbb tutorials"; In the oficial website of the phpbb forum you can freely download flash tutorials(swf), made with a program called "demo builder", on how to work or configure the forum in case you want to configured it by yourself only. But first you have to search for a free/pay host server to host and configure the forum and, of course, php knowledge isn't required but helpfull. Well, that isn't a real problem because trap17.com is your answer. Of course that are other foruns, in fact, there are lots of foruns and tutorials to help you build them, so, if you want to build your own forum, first you have to learn php or asp, and then learn from foruns like phpbb, invision power board, vbulletin, dcforum, web wiz forum(free or pay), wel... and so on. Remeber that when i say learn from the foruns like phpbb, ... , i mean that you can learn not only with the tutorials, but alsow exploring the code, making questions at the foruns (depending of the forum script), and other foruns like this one(trap17.com forum). Finaly, i give you a tip, if you realy want to learn how to build a forum, learn how to make one in php, it's more easy then asp. And do all your searches in google.com : Questions For tutorials on how to build foruns step-by-step, it's best that you use google.com, but even better would be asking jeeves, for example: - "tutorials how to build forun(or in plural - foruns)"; - "building foruns"; - how to build foruns" - etc..., use your inteligence. If you need more help, or this wasn't helpfull, just pm or reply here. |

QUOTE(Final)arkJon @ Dec 7 2004, 11:55 PM) K guys, thx alot! everyone helped me big time i have 1 question tho. on phpbb its free rite?? and theres no adds rite?? thx again jon Yes. Currently PhpBB is the best free one in my opinion. Although, there are other free ones that you could use. Once you get hosting here you can automatically install several other forums depending on your needs and wants. XMB is a good forums. I used it for a while while testing and found it to be a good alternative to PhpBB. Well, i think that you have to check them all out to see what you prefer but personally, i think XMB wins this one. I hope i was of some help to you Cheers X3r0X |

If you're not sure how to upload the forums onto your server, go to
http://www.myfreebb.com and they will host the forum on their server. Its easier that way. I host mine off my secondary server (viperhosting) but seeing as how you dont know any php, it would be difficult for you to customize it the way you want it. |

Well there are a lot of good free forum providers. Here are just some of my favorite that I have many friends use.
Invision -They are pretty good, lots of peole use their free hosting. ProBoards -You can modify the boards colors very easily in ProBoards. YaBB board -Pretty nice ASP Forum -I like these ones a lot. |
