Hey everyone,
Ive just put in a new Home page and i think it is missing things but i dont know what it is missing. I need some help figuring things out!!! Please make suggestions on the Home page or any other part of my site (except the Videos (they are not working at the moment)). I am willing to design almost every thing in my page now. But i have to say this is a lot better then what my page use to look like Thanks, illdevilinc --UPDATE-- For all of those who have replied with the suggestions, know that i have changed the sites home page to something that looks more professional. Please review this one. And also take a look at the Flash grafic i have placed on top of the sites home page, and review it. Thanks This post has been edited by illdevilinc: May 1 2006, 04:59 AM |

I'd assume you are refering to your site at http://www.metalmusic.trap17.com/
Firstly, impression does count alot as it sets whether your visitors will come back again. I'd suggest you to shift everything to the center as it will look more unique and organised. Also, try using CSS. The blue colored links doesn't look good on black background. For me, I'll prefer silver text. Try using a template if possible as it will look more organise and professional. |

Your site looks very borked in Mozilla Firefox (1.5), with text all over the places and text layers above each other. Also the site looks very primitive. You seem more like a coder than a designer

I agree with Inspiron, you should try and centre your layout on the screen, as it does look a little bit weird having it on the left like that. The gaps between the boxes in the two side columns seem to vary randomly, and the 3 sections don't line up at the bottom. Try and get everything spaced evenly and lining up. The FrontPage buttons you have used at the top are overused on the web, and don't fit with your design. Try and find another button design if possible.
For more help with the CSS design, have a look here. That is a premade 3 column design you just need to customise. |

I agree with the members above ,
1. Blue Links are Dumb , 2. Try using a Banner , above , ... 3. A change with the Font & Size is recommended .... 4. The "site news" will look better with a site bar .... 5. And i think u have made the site for 1024x768 , it slides down for 800x600 |

The "site news" will look better with a site bar .... 5. And i think u have made the site for 1024x768 , it slides down for 800x600 I will change the blue links to red links. I am not going to use a banner above because it will throw some other things off in FireFox and NetScape browsers. I see no problem with the font and size, and what do you think i should change it to? What do you mean the site news will look better with a side bar? And yes, the site is designed for 1024x768 as that is the top most used resolution on my site (information found out by Google Analatics) and for 800x600 users they will just not be able to see the home page as the rest of the site can work with other resolutions. I am actualy not that concerned with the layout anymore as google says the most entry into the site is directly to the videos. And the Videos are well designed (in some pages, still working on getting the design to all pages). Also, the content should keep the visiters to my site, if they leave because of my home page without looking at the rest of the pages then i dont want those vistors on my site anyways. The homepage content is good just the layout is wierd but if you look at the web there is a lot more wierder sites. And yes i am more of a coder then a designer. And also this whole site was built with Microsoft Frontpage. And layout control is a little hard to use in microsoft frontpage. And the page now works with microsoft and Firefox browsers. Thanks for contributing. I would also like to open up this topic to all of my site and tell me what you think of the rest of the site not just the home page. thanks! I think the goodies within the site are great, but i think you should just go to freewebtemplates.com and get one. They have great templates and a lot of the time the people don't even have that big of links back to the designers site.

I think the goodies within the site are great, but i think you should just go to freewebtemplates.com and get one. They have great templates and a lot of the time the people don't even have that big of links back to the designers site. I have already looked there and none have been sutable o fit in my home page. If someone could find one that you know would fit into my design, then please send it to me or reply to this post with the link. Or better, if you design one that fits everything that i have set up i will give the person a 1 month term i video advertisement space. (see http://www.metalmusic.trap17.com/ad/advertise_with_us.htm under VIDEO ADS for more information, or contact me threw illdevilinc[at]gmail[dot]com.) The only thing is that i will remove any credits to the author and all copyright information and replace it with my own. But i will not take credit for the design i will just put the copyright as the sites information. (If you want i will place your credit in an alternitave location). thanks Also, i would prefer a custom made design if your willing to do it because then i will save your SN and ask for help again. Or you could send a application to me threw (http://www.metalmusic.trap17.com/Users/content_provider/content_provider_application.htm and select HTML HANDLER under "What are you applying for?" and you will become the sites official HTML designer. If you do apply we can work out the terms of what you get. thanks again |

Ok the site looks terrible, but anyways you should change or alter the following:
- You should get a template or something and alter the links from there. - You need to clear the background and the stuff you are presenting to the user - You must make sure that the stuff blends well, b/c in FF it looked kinda wacky - Your information is too clumped together and stuff, the black takes away from potential Sorry if that was a little to negative but I personally don't like the site, anyways good luck. And add some music or a feed to the background. |
