I'm looking for a free top level domain, perhaps a posting site, just like this, except instead of offering hosting it offers top level domain registration for free. If anybody knows of one and knows it works could they please post and help me out. No domain cloaking or any other catches, just a real top level domain, like one you could register with yahoo.com or godaddy.com, except instead of paying one posts in their forums or something.

Thanks!

well there always the .tk domains which are free i think. but you get a splash screen with an avertisement everytime someone tries to visit your site which i think really sucks. But then again one little thing at the beginning of the visitors visit isnt to bad i think. but everyone has to choose for themselves biggrin.gif

Yeah, I had a .tk once tongue.gif.

But I'm talking more about universal domains (.com, .net, .org... the works)

Anyone else?

there is a site called Smoky Hosts (http://www.smokyhosts.com/forums/) which provides free .info domains after you score 400 Points there by posting in the forum.

Thanks. I wonder why there are so few of these. Aren't domains cheaper than webhosting? I mean what trap17 offers here is amazing! and it's all free, but there are so few sites that are willing to spend $10 a year on their members.

Thanks, but I'm just looking for a .com or a .net. It doesn't need to be completely free, I don't mind posting in forums to get the domain, as long as the domain will not be paid for by me.
