These days there has been a rise in students presenting papers, which is ideally an outcome of some research. Forget about the ideal case.... how are papers presented these days? Most of the time... people involved in research, do not actually do search. They instead Google and find stuff to be changed to be presented as papers. Getting papers on similar lines and modifying is also rising... Ideally searching for papers online should be for the purpose of reference and not for copying research and findings by others.

Ideally... people should keep the following points in mind before they start working on new projects of their own...
1. Do some research on what exactly you wanted to do and why?
2. See if someone had already done what you have done... If yes.. leave it and search for something else to do.
3. Do not re-invent. Invent. Come up with something new and different and can kindle interest from others.
4. Do not do anything for the sake of doing it.
5. Paper presentation is about spending some time, researching and adding your findings and not about adding words.

Keep this in mind and work on the paper.

1. Do some research on what exactly you wanted to do and why?
People are clueless about what they wanted to do. Some do it for the heck of doing it. So do it because their seniors did something similar... Others... because his/ her grandfather talked about ages ago and is of no use no...

2. See if someone had already done what you have done... If yes.. leave it and search for something else to do.
This is yet another prevailing problem. People start working working on something without even realizing that there are zillion people who have already done that and what they are currently going to do is of no value add.

3. Do not re-invent. Invent. Come up with something new and different and can kindle interest from others.
You know what re-inventing is? Google re-invented the search.... Yahoo and others were already big players in the market when Google started. But they re-invented and created revolution... But that is not easy... Try to invent.

4. Do not do anything for the sake of doing it.
Do not do anything for the sake of others. I have seen people telling me doing something just because their professors/ lecturers asked them to do it or they wanted to show others that they can do this on their own. Have a purpose before starting to work on it...

be innovating and come up with something mind blowing... not something others can digest and spit in few minutes.
