if you havent heard about the software. visit the website www.winmx.com for the free download. Basicaly the software is for free. Don't worry no spyware and adware attached to the software.

although the software is poor in graphical design but its cool. It also has a bandwidth monitor.

here are the features of the software:

QUOTE
High performance peer-to-peer protocol
Share and DOWNLOAD ANY FILE TYPE
Multi-sourced downloading for maximum speed on broadband connections
Auto-Complete feature continuously seeks out new download sources, even after WinMX is restarted
Detailed bandwidth monitoring and throttling controls
Complete upload and download queuing system
Fully decentralized chat
OpenNap connectivity for expert users
Powerful docking window interface great for hi-res and multi-monitor systems
Compatible with most LAN configurations

I used to have WinMX, it was really good for downloading music, I didn't use it for anying other than that.

Generally for P2P I use bearshare or Warez, but there are so many programs these days it doesn't actually matter, not like the days when Kazaa was the main player, and I am sure that many more will come in the future.

For me however, BitTorrent is number 1, especially for games/movies and whatever.

WinMX and Emule are both good programs, no spyware no adwares and quite a lot of songs on the network. While a good and reliable emule server may be a little bit difficult to find, WinMX does not have the same problem. Files on WinMX network are generally more easily located. However, both programs require you to queue for a long time for a certain file on the network, so you have to switch on the computer for a prolonged period. And downloading files can be painstakingly slow, 10K per second is a norm and 100K per second would be considered very fast (you are lucky then). Both networks are infested with faked files too. It is sometimes quite frustrating after downloading for a day and find that the file is acutually an unplayable one. Newer P2P programs like WinNY (mainly used in Japan) and exeem has a voting system which can eliminate faked files. WinMX does not has this feature that I can aware of.

I think BT is the most popular file sharing software now. The bad thing about it is of course you cannot really search for a file. The speed will be tremendously good during the first and second day, about 800K per second on by 8MB connection, reaching 2000K in some faster connections (100Mbps FTTB), but the speed drops drastically after the craze. You cannot get a file after it has been around for 7 days. Therefore, you have to be hooked to sharing boards and announce sites for new files. Despite these disadvantages, its major advantage (stunning speed) has won popularity from all over the world and I would say it is the best file sharing program.

I especially like DC++ and torrents (BitComet) a lot! Sometimes i'm using eMule... but only for files that I can't find on the other 2. I've used winmx before but I didn't like it... anyways it's still useful for downloading movies and stuff. I'm also using Ares for quick downloads ;-)

I've been using WinMx for a long time and have found that its usually better at night. It might just be me whos noticing this but if I search for songs at night I get better results. I use to use Kazaa which I thought was pretty good. Theres a few problems that come along with it though. Sometimes when you download songs or files a virus is attached. The pop-ups are really bad. They never go away. One bad thing about all music downloading programs is that sometimes when you download a song the song is messed up and doesn't sound right at all. I'd have to say that Winmx suits me pretty well for now. If anyone has any tips on downloading files and music, I'd love to hear from you. Does any one know any programs where we can mix songs and make our own remixes?
